If you were in Aaron/Hazel's position, what would you do?

joeysteele 17-05-2011 11:13 AM

It would be illegal to help him die,in any way. I have to say NO, Awful choice especially if he doesn't want to live, very sad.

Scarlett. 17-05-2011 11:14 AM

Aye, I'd probably say no, not only would you lose him, but you'd end up going to jail, it's a hard decision though, especially as Jackson is so fed up of life

Kerry 20-05-2011 01:29 AM

Leave him alive. But who could possibly say....

Jords 20-05-2011 01:32 AM

Im not sure, I know if I was Jackson I wouldnt wanna live..

Having the courage to actually do it, Im not sure I could even if I wanted in his situation. At least with help youre going knowing people cared too.

Jords 20-05-2011 01:40 AM

I dont watch Emmerdale much but I have to say Hazel/Aaron/Jackson are the best characters from what I see, espicially Hazel she has such a warm personality that really comes across.

True. I like how Emmerdale are being true to the situation too as in he keeps putting it off. He'd be terrified

Kerry 20-05-2011 01:42 AM

Anyone know when it happens?

joeysteele 20-05-2011 08:20 AM

It's likely going to be a tear jerker,I also have to say that the acting so far is reallly good on this storyline,

The real sad thing is, the character Jackson doesn't really want to die, he desperately though does not want to go on as he is. So, he needs others to be there and virtually end it for him. Very heavy storyline with massive knock on implications after the event too.

My guess is, as Pauline is leaving, is that Hazel takes the wrap :(

At least Jackson would be in peace, free of misery so that's some good even if the sad inevitable part for her is a prison sentence. A bonus is that this storyline would be over and Aaron's tear ducts will reduce;).

I don't actually think the maximum 14 years sentence here for this kind of thing is right..

They should take him to Holland (is it?) where assisted suicide isn't illegal

Switzerland do it I think, remember that documentary on BBC1 about that woman but before she went to do it had to go through the courts to beg them to promise not to charge her husband when she dies there:(.

Rewind time and swap him with Molly Dobbs so the train actually kills him.

Kerry 21-05-2011 09:51 PM

Read this as Unchained Melody played on a TV advert and nearly bawled. I've had it come the actual episode(s) :laugh2:

Spoiler:

Emmerdale favourite Aaron Livesy (Danny Miller) will embark upon a "long and deeply meaningful journey" after helping his paraplegic lover Jackson Walsh (Marc Silcock) to die, the show's producers have stated.

Discussing the aftermath of the ITV1 soap's assisted suicide storyline, Stuart Blackburn and Steve November teased that Aaron, along with Jackson's mother Hazel (Pauline Quirke), will continue to be haunted by the decision to help end his life.

The pair are quoted as saying in a joint interview with Soaplife: "For Hazel and especially Aaron [Jackson's death] is only the start of their story. In the case of Aaron, his is a long and deeply moving journey to the tragic realisation that despite everything he had believed, he and Hazel have ultimately done the wrong thing at the wrong time.

"What Aaron comes to understand is that Jackson had a life worth living and should have been given - despite all his protestations - the time and space to understand this for himself."

Blackburn and November also spoke of their desire to provoke "constructive debate" amongst viewers with the controversial and moving plot.

They said: "We are proud of the way we have tackled this story and it is our hope it will make people think about this sensitive issue. We hope the story will create a constructive debate and our audience will be challenged in a positive way."

Silcock previously declared that "people will remember" Jackson's exit from the show.

I prefer Jackson over Aaron, not only that I actually think the actor who plays Jackson is better than the one who plays Aaron.

Marc Silcock played a imaginary friend of a young character in Hollyoaks who had Schizophreonia and was impressive IMO:).

Redway 05-06-2011 02:43 PM

Never really liked Jackson. Miserable old cow...

Patrick 05-06-2011 02:53 PM

When does this happen?

-Will have to watch-

Smithy 05-06-2011 02:54 PM

^This Week

It looks like they're gonna kill him by rolling him off the pier in that pic :laugh2:

Patrick 05-06-2011 02:55 PM

:amazed:

Ikr - that's why I want to watch!

Is that what happens? Has it been announced how they kill him?

Scarlett. 05-06-2011 02:57 PM

Lol that's from a few weeks ago when they tried to talk him out of it :p

Smithy 05-06-2011 02:57 PM

Yeah, with drugs or something, lethal injection I think

Jords 05-06-2011 03:11 PM

Its quite funny 'leave him alive', when usually its 'leave him to die'.

Well not funny but I dunno the word, ironic?
