If you had the power to move the British isles to a new location on the globe...

If you had the power to move the British isles to a new location on the globe would you move it and, if yes, where would you move it to?

I read about people over there complaining about Europe and the weather. Maybe they'd like to move it next to a warmer climate in the Caribbean or next to Hawaii? We could be neighbors! How cool would that be? :wavey:

I'd move it to the nearest wall I could bang my head against repeatedly.

Marsh. 18-05-2011 08:14 PM

Nowhere. Because then we'd be a Hawaiian island or whatever and not Britain if that makes sense.

LaLaLand 18-05-2011 08:17 PM

Next to Alaska. That'd be amazing.

Judas 18-05-2011 08:19 PM

I'd move it to a black hole, or alternatively the bermuda triangle.

Be a little adventurous. How about you have the power to move it somewhere for a few years and then move it back if you don't like it.

This. simply because 'Whale watching in Alaska' is on my TO DO list and it would be right on my doorstep!!

but if pushed: probably the Caribbean or the Portugal.

Mogadishu, Somalia

Less run-down

That's more like it. I can keep moving it every few months.

I get sick of the rain, we go to Hawaii, get sick of the sun we go to Alaska etc.

I would leave it where it is. Any further south we would be plagued by droughts & disease. Any further west we would be plagued by hurricanes & tornadoes. Any further north we would freeze. Further east we would by destroyed by tsunamis & earthquakes.

We are in a perfect position unlike America, Australian, Africa, China, India, Japan or Southern Europe.

I'd move Scotland and Ireland as far away as I could from Engerland. Park them just outside Mauritius which is lovely

The Indian ocean somewhere :)

CharlieO 19-05-2011 09:46 AM

I wouldn't move it anywhere. But if i had to I'd move it to the Maldives.

karezza 19-05-2011 09:49 AM

I would move Scotland to the Antarctic - it is just as freezing, unpopulated & desolate.
I would move Wales to the Himalayas - nothing but mountains & a few animals.
I would move Ireland to New Zealand - green & inhabited by mad-faced, strange dancing Maoris.

I would send you to Iraq:

Despite its rich history and its oil reserves, it is a ruined nation that is wracked with violence, despair and confusion. Since 2003, the United States has occupied Iraq which has led to a civil war claiming the lives of more than 650 000 civilians. Al-Qaeda, Sunni insurgents, Shiite security forces, Kurdish rebels, American soldiers, Turkish troops and criminals are involved in a cycle of violence that unfortunately, will not abate any time soon. Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), Explosively Formed Penetrators (EFPs) and mines are a constant threat, as are suicide bombers who have slain hundreds. Kidnappings and random killings are reported with almost mind-numbing frequency. Since 2003, 2 million Iraqis have fled to neighboring countries and another 1.9 million in Iraq remain internally displaced. Depleted uranium used as armor-piercing rounds will poison Iraqi civilians and US servicemen for decades. Truly, a hell on earth. :wavey:
