What does it mean to support a team?

Be born where the team is from?
Go to matches week in week out?
Buy all the shirts and various other bits?
Make sure you watch them on tv?

I think Man U has the largest amount of "plastic fans" as people would call them. People often laugh in a Man U fans face when they mention their team, it's like "sureeeee". Anyway...

I like Birmingham because we are never safe which makes excitment,I was also born in Birmingham and I do go to see our games when my family has got the money.:joker:

Support a team basically is what it says on the tin..the only team you like. I've never come from Birmingham and I'm a Villa fan, wouldn't call myself plastic cause they never win anything they just exist. couldn't see myself supporting anyone else

My main problem with Man U isin't the plastic fans. It's the fact that they are filthy ****ing scumbags.

Everything.

Care about LFC almost as much as I care about family.

I think the "unless you go to matches / buy everything" argument is pretty defunct when you consider how extortionate the prices are for the big leagues.

King Gizzard 20-05-2011 10:51 PM

And to add to Shauns point everyone brings out a new kit each season, mostly with a slight difference to the previous shirt, when you could easily have one for 2 years. They try to sponge every penny out of you

It's not just the money with tickets either, most PL clubs tickets are gone before they make general sale.

Man Utd fans are far better than Man City fans, they are hypocrites, they claim there's only one true Manchester team, City, but whenever Utd win great success like winning the treble out came the Man City fans trying to share the glory(then again they rarely have much to cheer about at City).Man City is also from what I see, likely the dirtiest and most foul playing team in the premiership.
Then you have the acrobats and divers at Arsenal.

I don't think you need to follow the team from your home town, I don't. I like football and like to see excitement and determined play, attacking as well as defensive.
Man.Utd are superb at putting a show on and I love Birmingham because as Jedward fever said, they have you on a knife edge most of the season but can and often do play really good and battling football.

I think often in a season though the best football often comes from the teams battling for promotion from the Championship and I like teams from there too Swansea and Norwich.

So for me what does it mean to follow a team/s, it's where you start the Journey of the season with them and good or bad you are still there at the end of the season with them and beyond, while still admiring the good football being played by other teams too.
