Do we give new members too much of a hard time?

Or do they deserve a bit of a grilling to see if they can tough it out or not?

Doogle 06-06-2011 09:06 PM

I felt welcomed and no one gave me a hard time. :amazed:

Smithy 06-06-2011 09:07 PM

No

We should dunk them all, if they drown they're real, if they survive permban them for being a multi

Ninastar 06-06-2011 09:07 PM

No, they deserve it for being new

joeysteele 06-06-2011 09:11 PM

Most people on here are welcoming to new members,I don't think anyone has the right to grill someone who joins a forum. All forums 'need' new members,be unwelcoming to them and grill them, then they are not likely to stay or recommend the forum to others.

New members are needed, this is not just an exclusive club for some to the detriment of new opinions, new thinking and new people joining.

Considering the ratio of new members in the past just being existing members I can understand why people are doubtful but questioning them as soon as they post their first thread is a bit too much.

You didn't accept my friend request...but I've had to suffer this sort of "abuse". LOOL...

Ramsay 06-06-2011 09:15 PM

seeing as TIBB is such a wee circle of a group i can see why new ones get grilled but they shouldnt
i always try and be nice as i can

MTVN 06-06-2011 09:20 PM

I think generally this forum's not too bad, but as soon as one person get suspicious of a new member then everyone seems to

True. I was so annoyed yesterday - everybody was accusing me of being a PBU. I was drunk, too, so I may have been talking some rubbish...:joker:

But I do think that's a horrible reputation to have on here - it's no wonder some members join other forums.

A bit? You only need to look at yesterday's posts, and see how I was accused. It's not at all welcoming. I'm not suprised that a lot of users join other forums. I think that members on here need to at least be welcoming and set a good reputation of this site. Being accused of PBU on your first day doesn't exactly make you feel welcome.

We have a few Bully's on the forum like Vicky Ukturtle Iceman and Niamh but then we have members like Myself Locke Scott Shaun and Stu who make the newbies feel welcome

Vicky. 06-06-2011 09:27 PM

I would imagine its very off putting to new members to straight away be accused of being another member. or have their welcome threads full of :suspect:

However, I can also understand why most are automatically suspicious of new accounts. Not really any need for everyone to jump on them though :/

this

so cringey when members gang up. Even if I don't like somebody Ill back off if I see others already at them.

Shaun 06-06-2011 09:36 PM

only the ones that're quite blatantly trolls. Which sadly seems to be over 50% of new members atm.

I mean, Doogle, CharlieO and Black_Dagger are some examples of new members who I think everyone's accepted.

seanraff07 06-06-2011 09:38 PM

They deserve to be welcomed.

If not then no one will replace the members that leave.

you are insane

Patrick 06-06-2011 09:43 PM

No.

If they 'type like dis n 4nk dey no everyfin about big bruva as if we hve neva seen it b4'.

Then they deserve to be banned and insulted.
If they just be cool and fit in and be normal, then it's all good.

Lee. 06-06-2011 09:45 PM

It's one thing that annoys me about Tibb: the way that new members are treated. It's a public forum and members have as much right to post here as older members!

Nope. Ask Vicky. She'll tell you. You posted on my visitor's messages wall telling me to back off before you "kill me". ;)
