If you survived an attack/accident.....

... of somesort and were left SERIOUSLY facially disfigured for life, would you feel lucky to have lived or unlucky?

MTVN 15-06-2011 09:25 PM

Unlucky, I would just feel slightly less unlucky than if I had died

GypsyGoth 15-06-2011 09:26 PM

I wouldn't go outside again and I'd feel very unlucky.

Jords 15-06-2011 09:26 PM

Lucky at first, but gradually unlucky as time went on.

Kerry 15-06-2011 09:27 PM

What I mean is, would you rather die than be left facially disfigured?

But then what life is that?

Vicky. 15-06-2011 09:30 PM

Disfigurement...I would rather survive.

Paralysis or something, would rather die.

I think I'd prefer to be alive. I think I could adapt to being disfigured.

Novo 15-06-2011 09:31 PM

If i could get a mask like Richard Harrow from Boardwalk Empire then i suppose it wouldn't be that bad

joeysteele 15-06-2011 09:31 PM

I'd feel lucky I still had life, I wouldn't care as to the facial disfigurement,I would still be me and if others couldn't see past that, that's their problem not mine.

I would be really glad to be alive and so no,I would not want to have died.

Beastie 15-06-2011 09:32 PM

I think I would be lucky to live.

Kerry 15-06-2011 09:34 PM

Just watching a doc called "I was bitten" on DMAX and this guy had his face literally ripped off by a bear. His eyes gouged out yet he feels so lucky to have lived. Just made me think.....

You know what I'm like with my TV induced threads

One which would be preferable to not having one altogether. I could still read, watch films and tv, play video games, go on walks, play some sports and I'd still have friends over sometimes. It wouldnt be great but I'd adjust to it I think

GypsyGoth 15-06-2011 09:38 PM

You'd save money on halloween costumes if your face was messed up.

Ninastar 15-06-2011 09:40 PM

omfg. HAHAHAHA

Still not entirely practical. What about if you have to leave home in an emergency? Say an incident happened and you're evacuated? Or if you need shopping? Or when someone knocks on the door?

Well then I'd just have to face it, and try and hide it as best I could or something. I just always think that life is worth living, even if it's not how you wanted things to go

Benjamin 16-06-2011 12:15 AM

I'd feel lucky to still be alive (as long as I could see and hear). I think a part of me would always be mournful though to what I once was.

Lee. 16-06-2011 12:54 AM

If I was left looking like the elephant man but still had the chance to see my kids grow up, I would feel like the luckiest person in the world.

CharlieO 16-06-2011 05:18 AM

I would feel lucky, but I don't think I would be happy. Depends which stage of life I was in. If I had kids I'd probably be overjoyed I hadn't left them. But if it was like in my 20s then id probably hate it because it would stop you from doing so many things and the likelyhood is that I wouldn't find a partner and it would cause me to be alone.

cub 16-06-2011 05:43 AM

Unlucky. If I had a serious disfigurement it would affect my whole existance in a negative way that would make life unbearable.
