Amy Winehouse "Retired" By Record Label

Quote:

Amy Winehouse's attempt at a European concert tour ended in Belgrade, Serbia, with a train wreck of a performance Saturday night in which she staggered around the stage and stumbled through several songs.

The audience eventually chased Winehouse off the stage with loud boos several numbers into what was supposed to be the opening show in a 12-date tour.

A representative for Winehouse said her next two concert dates have been canceled.

Winehouse representative Tracey Miller did not directly confirm that the "Rehab" singer, who has a history of battling drugs and alcohol, had fallen off the wagon. Winehouse only recently left a British rehab program that a representative said was intended to prepare her for the European concerts.

"Yes, Amy has cancelled appearances in Istanbul and Athens for the coming week," Miller told CNN Sunday. "Despite feeling sure that she wanted to fulfill these commitments, she has agreed with management that she cannot perform to the best of her ability and will return home."

Video clips of the musical disaster, recorded by concert-goers' cell phone cameras, were quickly posted on YouTube. They showed Winehouse failing in every attempt to sing more than a few slurred lines of her songs. Audience members could be heard filling in the gaps, along with her back-up singers.

"She would like to apologize to fans expecting to see her at the shows but feels that this is the right thing to do," Miller said.

When Winehouse entered a rehab program at London's Priory Clinic last month, a representative told CNN that "she wants to be ready for performances in Europe this summer and decided to seek an assessment."
Rehab anyone?

She came back too soon, but maybe it's time for her to call it a day now.

Stu 19-06-2011 11:43 PM

Her management company needs to stop milking her for money. The poor girl needs serious help.

I agree, I know people are sick of seeing her like this and complain a lot but she obviously has a very serious problem with addiction and needs a very long stint in Rehab.

Poor Amy :(
I think Kerry posted yesterday night a video of her concert in Serbia and it was a complete mess :bored:

Yeah, I agree. You'd have to wonder does anyone actually care about her at all, sending her off on a tour when she's in that kind of state is madness.

No I doint think thats it, she's being forced to do these concerts when she's clearly in no fit state to, she needs to be sectioned and helped.

Okay, she tried to come back too soon.

I think as a poster said above, she needs serious help, not lip service from those around her.

Ammi 20-06-2011 01:13 PM

I guess wanting help is the first step, otherwise she'll just end up back there again

Absolutely ..... :)

My ex-wife went down the same route as Amy and many others - joined AA, had NHS detox and rehab, but after several emergency hospital admissions agreed to go Clouds House - she was there 6 months, came out clean and dry, but within 2 years was dead from too many relapses and eventual multiple organ failure - at the age of 40 .....

That's really sad, so sorry but unfortunately people can't be forced to be helped. If Daniella Westbrook's nose dropping off wasn't a clue to her that she needed to rethink her lifestyle. Anyway she did eventually, thank god, when she was ready to make that choice herself

After losing her "career" and her money, Kerry Katona was given a new "lease of life" this year - what has she done with it ?

Wasted it by preferring to drink herself to vomiting point .....

Like I said, some addicts ..... :(

Jords 20-06-2011 02:30 PM

Silly cow ruining her life.

That's so sad, sorry to hear that. Really a very sad end.
