...And the use of bad language is often seen in the show to which im sure will carry on in BB12. Do you think that it is justified to get reprimanded for using bad language on a forum that relates directly to talking about that show?

Surely that depends on the rules of the forum in which the subject is being discussed.

Obviously its related to the rules of the forum but im asking for your personal opinion

I believe I gave my personal opinion in my first reply.

In fact, I'd say my personal opinion was incredibly clear in my first post on this thread. Very clear.

f they turn off censoring, it will just make arguments here more nasty.

Plus not all members here are adults and not everyone joined for BB, X Factor is pre-watershed.

Pretty accurate summary there DigitalSid. I don't think anyone minds the odd slip up here and there, regarldess, Rules are rules. They make them, we follow them.

Only the F and C words should be censored here. The rest are very tame. =/

I think that's a very reasonable suggestion in all honesty. Perhaps the Wh*** word as well though.

I personally think the Internet shouldn't be censored. If you don't like a certain word, Tough. Deal with it.

Really??? You don't think very young, impressionable children have a moral right to be protected to some degree? Surely that gives rise to all sorts of things ..... and I don't mean just cursing.

Young children shouldn't be on the internet un-supervised. ;)

Parents should take the responsibility.

Unfortunately: in the world that we now live in... whilst I completely agree that parents should: parents aren't with their children 24/7 - and it would be unhealthy for them be so.

Big Brother is not for young children though?

If they shouldnt be subject to bad language and explicit material then they should not be watching the show.

This particular site is predominately for Big Brother fans - hence it's name This Is Big Brother. It's age limit is 13. What the show may be marketed towards, and the age of fans it actually attracts in reality are two entirely different things.

That is where censorship has to be applied. Some decency has to be factored in, and Tibbs has taken a responsible role to have such a rule in place, given the low age of members that are allowed to register and join. I'd have thought that was pretty obvious tbh.

They don't have to be watching it on TV. There are numerous places they can catch up, or even discuss in great detail - tabloids, magazine, you tube, etc, etc.

We all have to consider the potential that a 13 year old fan could be watching the censored midday version of the show, and then come here to discuss.

But yeah, only F and C should be censored. Or maybe there could be an option for those who want a swear filter and those who don't.

The site has a main focus on BB. But not everyone joins to talk about BB.

I will say that personally(I think my opinion on this is pretty common knowledge :p ), I dont think there should be a filter. However, I can see why there is one.

Its all well and good saying parents should supervise their kids 24/7, but in reality, its not quite that easy is it :/

And I would be so pissed if I had kids who had joined a forum to talk about..say the x factor...and ended up learning words such as ****** from it.

However, they might not have...maybe the kid is homeschooled, or in a really posh school or whatever

It doesn't mean that it should be readily accepted though. That's the difference.

I think it should optional to have a swear filter, but the default option is to have it on, therefore if someone is young they only way they're gonna see anything is if they themselves choose too
