Do smokers have rights?
Or are they just nasty people who are out to kill everyone with their second hand smoke?
The goverment seems to treat them almost like Nazi's these days, when infact what they're doing, banning it everyone, stopping people's freedoms, is almost nazism in itself. Someone should take a stand :nono: I vote Niamh and Vicky. |
Clearly not by how it seems.
Criminals have more rights :/ |
They should do given how much tax they pay to the government (disclaimer - non-smoker)
|
they are just nasty people out to kill people with their second hand smoke, i heard vicky and niamh plotting about it in the towers, they're gonna take josy down
|
People are a bit OTT about smoking, yeah it can contribute to many health problems (as does alcohol), but its been around for years and a social habit smokers like.

I wonder where all these people who complain...who the government is trying to please with all this bollocks...live |
In fact, nearly every nonsmoker I know says they preferred it when people could smoke in bars/clubs because now that people dont, all you can smell is toilets/sweat and they would rather smell the smoke :joker:

Time to ban cigarettes from Britain

smoking bans :bored: just...stupid.

I can sort of see where the government are coming from banning it in public places and although I don't agree with it, I can see the argument for banning it in town centres because children and non-smokers are obviously gonna be there. However, I think that there should be designated smoking areas/rooms in offices/public places at the bare minimum and I can't see any argument whatsoever for banning it in pubs. The reason people went to the pub was to socialise over a drink and part of the social aspect of it was smoking. The most they should do with pubs is make the landlord acquire a license, like they have to do to sell alcohol and make sure all employees working there are comfortable working in a smoking environment.
For the record, I'm a non smoker and the only time I can think the smoking ban has affected me positively is when I've been eating in restaurants. I hated going to proper restaurants and the whole place smelling of cigarettes. |
It's stupid to ban it in public, the health risks to the general public must be incredibly small and making a criminal out of someone for doing something that is perfectly legal is a bit ridiculous. I'm not as opposed to pubs/clubs etc. banning it but I don't think it should be law that people can't smoke in any of them, leave it to the choice of whoever's running the place

I would expect all the car fumes in city centres do more damage to kids than smoking could.
|
Apprently they're allowed to smoke in the house of commons bar, but not sure if that is a myth or not. If it's true, one rule for them another for us :bored:
