Question.

If a mod was to start insulting a member would they get infracted/banned? And if they were banned would they then be removed as a moderator?

An has a mod ever been banned before, when they were a mod?

Niall 05-07-2011 05:53 PM

I'd like to see an answer to this also. :suspect:

I dont think a mod has been banned before.

And I would think they would be demodded and banned, especially if the insults etc were constant

Not when 7 people all jump on one post that wasnt even directed at them(infact it was directed at someone not one of you liked and tend to insult on a daily basis), and mass report just to get the mod in question sacked rather than because you were actually offended ...

Mods are above posters
so no they do not get banned.

That is normal locke

I wasn't just talking about that incident :hmph:

Folks: I raised this very same question in private in the appeals and questions section. Suffice to say; the outcome for me was not a good one ....and that is all I am going to mention about it.

I believe your question was answered Pyramid, don't make it sound so sinister :nono: Admin can see everything we do and can de-mod or ban us if they think we're not doing our jobs properly or are being insulting.

I didn't suggest my question was not answered. I was more putting over the point that it led to more than just a discussion - and this thread could (could) go the same way.

It was not a dig at mods... it was more letting the other posters be aware that it might up in tears - and that putting it up on the forum might not perhaps be the best way - as it will end up in others jumping on the mods - as quite a few seem to be doing already. En masse jumping on a mod.

Only if you're inclined to think that way.

You know.. this throws up an interesting offshot.

A bunch of members do not like another member, and tend to insult that member on a daily basis - and this is acknoweldged by a mod.... why are those people continually allowed to post - if they are known for being insulting to another poster on a daily basis. :conf::conf:

Smithy 05-07-2011 09:55 PM

coz the mods don't like them either :idc:

That's irrelevant. If a mod is seeing another person being insulted on a daily basis and allows it to continue....what is the point of having any rules at all? :conf:

On another forum I'm on the Mods are subject to the same rules as members; they can be warned, infracted and banned and things are changed around quite often with Mods being replaced if they do go too far. It would be good if it was the same here although I don't think it's that big a deal, the Mods here are generally pretty good

They get infractions for it obviously. But usually if it happens in one of the chat threads, and isnt reported...then we dont know about it til days afterwards(if at all). And its not really fair to infract someone for a post that has been there for a week :p

Unfortunately the default insults to members infraction lasts only 10 days(which is why I tend to make customs, for more points and that last longer). *hopefully* the infraction system will be made over before BB starts, and people can get away with a LOT less. I think we are way too soft right now...and I know not many will agree with me, but its true.
