What was your favourite Channel 4 house?
Did you prefer the Bow or Elstree compound? Who was the best designer? What were the best secret rooms? Would you live in any of the houses? Yadda, yadda, yadda... Big Brother 1 (2000)/Celebrity Big Brother 1 (2001) 'Penal chic' theme, designed by Colin Piggot. Bow compound. Notes: The house for CBB1 was pretty much exactly the same as it was for BB1 except the purple diary room chair was replaced with a furry red one http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/foru...1&d=1310231428 Big Brother 2 (2001) 'Cabin fever' theme, designed by Colin Piggot. Bow compound. Notes: The BB2 house had the same layout as the BB1/CBB1 house but was slightly extended and gained the den http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/foru...1&d=1310231428 Big Brother 3 (2002)/Celebrity Big Brother 2 (2002) 'Laboratory' theme, designed by Marcus Blee. Elstree compound. Notes: BB3 divided the house via a rich/poor divide with Bedroom 1 (the larger) being the rich side bedroom whilst the rich side also acquired the sofas, kitchen and most of the garden (including pool). For CBB2 the diary room had some bits of tinsel... http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/foru...1&d=1310231428 Big Brother 4 (2003)/Teen Big Brother (2003) 'Cocoon' theme, designed by Marcus Blee. The second bedroom used for the BB5 army task was accessable in CBB3. http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/foru...1&d=1310233450 http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/foru...1&d=1310233450 Big Brother 6 (2005)/Celebrity Big Brother 4 (2006) 'Exposed' theme, designed by Patrick Watson. Big Brother 7 (2006)/Celebrity Big Brother 5 (2007)
'Inside out' theme, designed by Patrick Watson. Elstree compound. Secret room(s): The Golden Housemate's bedroom and the House Next Door used 3 times during BB7 (when the new housemates joined after Aisleyne's fake eviction, the prison task and when the ex housemates returned) and once during CBB5 (the masters and servants task). Notes: For CBB5 the outdoor kitchen area and dining table were brought inside. The BB7 pool was replaced with a hot tub for CBB5 whilst the 'bridge to nowhere' was fitted with heated seating for the celeb version. The BB7 bathroom was redecorated and made more private for the celebrities. The same diary room and chair for BB7 were used in CBB5 but a yellow light was also installed... http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/foru...1&d=1310235175 http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/foru...1&d=1310235175 http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/foru...1&d=1310235175 Big Brother 8 (2007) 'Everything in the wrong place' theme, designed by Patrick Watson. Elstree compound. Secret room(s): the caravan, 'Pauline'/Thaila's Australian themed private bedroom, the Half Way House (in the same space as the Australian room), and the pool house. Notes: This was the first house to feature a smoking area. There was also a secret washing machine hidden in the garden but it was never found. Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack (2008)
'E4/Banksy' theme, designed by Patrick Watson. Elstree compound. Secret room(s): There were some staris that lead to an upstairs room John used for a task. Notes: The space used for the Half Way House, Australian room and various tasks for BB8 returned for a few more tasks in Celebrity Hijack. The pool from BB8 was replaced with a hot tub. The bedroom was completely different from the one in BB8. It also had access to a gym. The bath tub was moved to its appropriate place in the bathroom whilst the fridge and oven were moved in to the kitchen. The diary room chair from BB8 returned but was lit with purple lighting whilst there were purple paint splodges round the living room. http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/foru...1&d=1310237290 Big Brother 9 (2008)/Celebrity Big Brother 6 (2009) 'Shattered' theme, designed by Patrick Watson. Elstree compound. Notes: This was the first house to have an offical task room. This house was divided via a heaven/hell divide similar to BB3's rich/poor twist. The bathroom, luxury bedroom and most of the garden (including pool) belonged to the heaven side, whereas the kitchen, B Block bedroom and jail end of the garden were on the hell side. For CBB6 2 more bedrooms were installed. One for LaToya Jackson coming from the B Block bedroom, and one for the Head of House by the luxury bedroom. The blue bathroom was repainted purple for CBB6. The BB9 garden was painted blues and yellows for CBB6 whilst the pool was replaced with carousel horses, the jail was made larger, and the nomination pod used in BB9 was replaced with a heated seating area. The overall series theme of CBB6 was 'celebrity' so the CBB6 house added a few stars to the carpets and wall pannels. http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/foru...1&d=1310237290 http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/foru...1&d=1310237290 Big Brother 10 (2009) 'Basic' theme, designed by Patrick Watson. Elstree compound. Notes: This house was sh!t. But I'll let you decide. For the first time every area in the house was contained within its own respective room e.g. the kitchen was in its own room, the dining room was in its very own room and the living area was in its own room. Supposedly several features and rooms were symbolic or representative of previous BB series which would fit in with the BB10 thumb print/identity logo. Perhaps the fact it shares an almost identical layout to BB9's house is actually a stroke of genius by mimicking what BB2 was to BB1? Or perhaps it was just credit crunched and/or lazy. You decide. http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/foru...1&d=1310237290 |

Crappy internet connection. Anyways, to finish it off... :)
Celebrity Big Brother 7 (2010) 'Hell/Circus' theme, designed by Patrick Watson. Elstree compound. Secret room(s): The area that used to be the BB10 living room was used as a reward room for Dane and Jonas. Notes: This was the first celebrity house to feature a complete design overhaul from the previous regular series. http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/foru...1&d=1310247721 Big Brother 11 (2010)/Ultimate Big Brother (2010) 'Circus/Heaven' theme, designed by Patrick Watson. Elstree compound. Secret room(s): The mole hole in BB11 which was later used as the bedsit and BB5 style diary room in UBB. Notes: The BB11 shower was frosted over for the privacy of the celebrity and ex housemates in UBB. http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/foru...1&d=1310247721 |
I've decided I'm gonna vote for BB4.
I always loved the BB6 house but it lacks a bathroom frankly. Always liked BB9's but it seemed a bit too tacky and out there at the same time. CBB7 and BB11's were both fun but a bit busy. And I think I've come to like the BB:CH house for what it was. BUT I still think Piggot and Blee designed the best houses and the ones you'd most want to live in. So between BB2 and BB4 I'll go with BB4. :D Oh, and I think I prefered the HND to the actual BB7 house - both when it was used for Aisleyne and when it was re-used for the ex HMs lol |
BB9
I loved BB11 house pics but it looked dull on cam. |
BB8 + CBB7 :)
If I narrow it down to 1, CBB7 pips it for me. Such an amazing house, so different to anything we had before. Actually, the whole series was fantastic, the eye, the opening titles, etc :) |
BB9
BB4's is so cosy though <3 I loved BB5 and BB6s aswell, If I had to chose - BB9. |

Either you just through that in there for the sake of having something else on your list of reasons in favour of CBB7 or you forgot how ridiculously awful and slow the titles were. |
BB5, BB7 or BB11
BB5 if I had to choose one. |
BB6 or BB11
|
bb6/bb7 :)
|
BB5, BB7 or BB9 :)
