Laptop V Notepad

Am looking at getting a new laptop as my old one broke yonks ago and have just seen a Compaq Mini CQ10-400SA Notebook PC Atom going for £115 pretty much brand new.

Didn't know whether it's best for me to hang on to the money and save a bit more to get £300 for the laptop I want (Dell inspiron 15) or to go for a notepad, slightly smaller but a lot less expensive and has pretty much the same features.

Notepad's are crap.

Notepads just run really slow. Get a laptop.

I don't notice any difference tbh

Had one but broke the LCD screen inside. The outer screen case is fine, it's just the LCD screen that has broken and half the screen is white and the rest is black and white :(

A notebook is a laptop.

A notepad is a netbook.

Like a laptop, but mini-er.

CharlieO 10-07-2011 03:08 PM

A netbook is designed for mainly light internet usage. Hense the NETbook.

Boothy 10-07-2011 03:08 PM

Depends what you wanna do on it. If you only want it for the internet and word documents you may as well get a netbook. If you want to watch films, play games etc. get a laptop.

Generally they are though. You cant get a 19" portable computer that isnt a laptop.

And the Compaq one has mini in the title because they are trying to avoid classing their small computers as netbooks.

Netbooks don't support flash either, which limits your internet experience a little
