Planning application for the porta cabins takes place tomorrow

A PLANNING application to house 30 temporary porta-cabins at Elstree Film Studios for the new Big Brother television series will go before councillors on Thursday.

Officers say the proposals will have no detrimental effects on residents and neighbouring properties. They recommend powers be delegated to the head of planning and building control to grant permission.

Channel 5 bought the rights to Big Brother earlier this year after Channel 4 axed the programme in 2010.

A two-year contract with producers, Endemol UK, starts with a special celebrity edition in August.

Personalities linked with the new series include X-Factor twins John and Edward Grimes, better known as Jedward, who are rumoured to have been offered £1 million to appear on the show.

The planning meeting, which is open to the public, takes place at 6pm on Thursday, July 14, at the Civic Offices, in Elstree Way.

Can you imagine if they dont actually get it? lol we will be screwed

Well they've already started setting them up so they're confident.

There has been a complaint from a resident but Hertsmere council have played it down so will probably give it the go ahead.

They'd have to book one of the studio's sound stages outside the BB compound, though would one be available at this short notice? They would need it 24/7 for 17 weeks.

Theres allways one isnt there

I dont see how this could even affect residents as noone of them even live close enough for this to.

Actually what does this resident find so offensive about ****ing porta cabins?

They need to get a life.

Oh yeah, sorry, got pictures turned off so only saw a link and assumed it was just the article, I assume they're not going to stay stacked on top of each other like that?

They managed with only a couple of portacabins for BB1/2 in Bow, so hopefully it would be possible for C5 to manage, it would just be very basic.

BigBroSite 13-07-2011 09:09 PM

The picture is not where the Portakabins are going and they have not been set up yet.

Marc 13-07-2011 09:11 PM

Ugh.. I come home from work and I have to see planning related stuff on HERE as well :bored:

30 portacabins are already on site

BigBroSite 13-07-2011 09:19 PM

Like I said. The photo is not where they are going. And currently NOTHING has been put in place yet!

Weather they are on site or not is irrelevant.

Heres a map from the plans of where the portakabins are going. Hope it clears up some confusion...

daniel-lewis-1985 16-07-2011 08:03 PM

W@nkers

Marc 16-07-2011 09:21 PM

Complaints don't mean anything :joker:

emmetmcl 16-07-2011 11:49 PM

The complaints are probably just from people who don't like Big Brother. It won't impact them in any way.
