Group lead singers who fail as solo artists?

Which singers of successful groups just will never be big as a solo artist?

Mick Jagger - biggest rock group ever but his few attempts at solo stuff have failed.

Skin - very strong singer from Skunk anansie. But solo career flopped.

Nadine Coyle - had the best voice but nobody was interested in Tesco.

who else?

Debbie Harry flopped as a solo artist, so did Tony Hadley.

Lee Ryan.

Brandon Flowers didn't really flop but he didn't do half as good as I was expecting

Dude from Busted is about to.

I think he had a bit of chart success with some heavy rock group. TBF he seemed to just be following his heart and making music he was passionate about. He didnt seem bothered about commercial success.

The two sugababes that left and tried I don't think keisha's released anything yet, but she'll probably flop when she does

Fightstar was Charlie's band - very underrated

But his solo project's not that good

Sharleen Spiteri - Texas

Mutya had two top-5 singles, she didn't fail :idc:

I thought Kele Okereke's album was piss-poor (lead dude from Bloc Party). Brandon Flowers' was average. Gwen Stefani didn't fail but her music was mostly terrible (with the exception of, like, 5 songs). Patrick Stump is failing.

Gwen

Other than Band aid,I don't think Bob Geldof lit the charts alight that much solo either.

Zippy 18-07-2011 11:09 PM

The girl from the Corrs is currently failing with her new material.

Shaun 18-07-2011 11:10 PM

I was sure Song 4 Mutya was like #4 :suspect: how odd. But oh well, it was amazing anyway :hmph:

Locke. 18-07-2011 11:10 PM

She wrote a song for herself?

Shaun 18-07-2011 11:12 PM

Groove Armada did  well it was originally for Estelle, but her voice didn't work with it or something. And everyone thought it was about Amelle replacing her in the Sugababes with Mutya as the subject

Zippy 18-07-2011 11:14 PM

song 4 Mutya is a classic. Even though she's a moody ho.

Gary Barlow, but sure none of the 4 of them work without each other.

His first album was a huge success. He also had 2 number ones from it.

OK he couldn't sustain it but he has had decent solo success.
