Radio 1

I've never been much of a radio listener, however, since I started working for my current employer, I have been forced to listen to Radio 1 all day, every day.

It never hit me just how bloody repetitive that radio station gets. I used to love Friendly Fires and Ed Sheeran - if I hear Hawaiian Air or The A Team a few more times I'm actually going to have to roll up to the Radio 1 offices and slaughter Fearne Cotton with my bare hands. I already hated her but her radio show actually enrages me, I can't handle it anymore. Has it always been so repetitive?! Aaaahhhh.

Lee. 26-07-2011 07:59 PM

I detest radio 1!

:bored:

Doogle 26-07-2011 07:59 PM

Fearne and Reggie are amazing

Idc about the rest of them though, it bores me.

Marc 26-07-2011 07:59 PM

Ugh tell me about it. Radio1 is soooo repetitive! I was out all day in a car and I swear I heard Gaga about 5 times and Eminem about 4 times :bored:

Shaun 26-07-2011 07:59 PM

it's a shame that arguably the nation's biggest entertainment service has become essentially a plays-for-pay franchise of dull presenters, irritating presenters and catering to the lowest common denominator.

Z 26-07-2011 08:02 PM

After hearing it about a zillion times, I discovered that the ultra repetitive song that goes "that's just how we roll" isn't in fact Taio Cruz, but a Taio Cruz wannabe. Why is that song getting so many plays? Why are The Wanted at #1 (or were, idk)?! What's wrong with this nation's music taste!!!!

Jack is going to hate you.

Saying that Radio 1 are also very ageist. They refused to put Madonna's Celebration on there play lists as signs of discrimination. It ended up on Radio 2's ''B'' rated play list instead.

Perhaps it's because the song is awful rather than cos she's like 100? :bored:

Even so though, the A-List is usually bombarded with samey dance **** and overrated indie acts.

Radio 1 :bored:

I like it, normally just listen to Fearne and sometimes Greg James though, yeah they do play the same music quite often but I normally like what they've got on so it doesn't bother me, & it's still less repetitive than Heart is

Lewis. 26-07-2011 08:44 PM

Not bad at times but when certain hosts are on you can guarantee the same songs al day long

Z 26-07-2011 08:54 PM

At the moment it seems to be:

Hawaiian Air - Call Your Girlfriend - The A Team - Glad You Came - another song gets a look in - How We Roll - Best Thing I Never Had - Louder - another song gets a look in - and repeat. It's so bloody monotonous!

MTVN 26-07-2011 08:57 PM

They used to play Technofan by the Womanbats a lot too, Pumped Up Kicks seems to get played quite a bit as well, and so does the Foo Fighters - Walk

Marc 26-07-2011 08:59 PM

Greg it'll be Sugababes soon  LOL

bastards

I find radio djs annoying, period

InOne 26-07-2011 11:16 PM

I used to listen to Chris Moyles a lot. I like him and Zane and a few of the older ones.

Can't stand Fearne, Greg and Reggie though, they annoy me greatly

Jack_ 26-07-2011 11:25 PM

You won't find the same song played twice in a single Radio 1 show, that's something you don't get with a lot of other mainstream, rival commercial stations where the playlist is also a lot smaller and less varied, so if I were you I'd count yourself lucky you're not being subjected to sh!t like Capital. It's also not often [well it shouldn't be] that you'll see the same track played in two consecutive shows, I know it's been mentioned on-air before that when they schedule songs they try to avoid doing that, but if it's an A-List track on the playlist, chances are you might hear it a few times throughout the day so that's probably why it sounds repetitive.

On the subject of Fearne, I can't stand her show either. I like her as a TV presenter...and that's what she should stick to. TV personalities as a general rule shouldn't be employed to work in radio because they don't have the talent for it. Their shows sound messy, they don't know how to broadcast properly and it just doesn't work, IMO anyway.

I don't know what time you start work but if you don't want to hear a lot of music then you're best off listening to The Chris Moyles Show to be honest, and it's easily the best show on the network anyway [and yes, I know I'm biased :p].

Capital > Radio1

joeysteele 26-07-2011 11:36 PM

Rarely listen to the Radio, but don't like Radio 1 at all.

Boothy 26-07-2011 11:43 PM

I used to listen to Chris Moyles in the morning when my mum used to take me to school but this is about 2/3 years ago now. I haven't really listened to it since.

If I was going to listen to any station it would be BBCWM/5 Live. They're more talk show based and I'm yet to find a station that plays music I actually like. Around here all we seem to get are stations that are similar to Radio 1 but with adverts and local DJs, Kerrang and Capital.

InOne 27-07-2011 12:26 AM

BBC World Service is where it's at, used to listen to that at like 4am and they have the oddest stories ever

Shaun 27-07-2011 12:43 AM

hang the DJ, hang the DJ, hang the DJ

Benjamin 27-07-2011 12:50 AM

Nothing beats the days of Mark & Lard on Radio 1. Radio 1 is crap now though, it seems to not be able to cater for the altering tastes anymore.

CaraRawr 27-07-2011 08:07 AM

The music they play basically caters to the chavs-trying-to-be-indie market.
