I can swim, but I'm almost Olympic standard at bobbing around on a floaty chair with a cocktail.

CharlieO 30-07-2011 02:27 PM

I swim incredibly well.

Pyramid* 30-07-2011 02:32 PM

Swimming is one of the best forms of all round exercise plus it's very good from the cardio side as well.

Diving is a skoosh...you just need to learn the basics and no one is ever to old to learn -either to swim or dive. I spent days at the pool on holiday with a bunch of little kids showing them how to do back flips and all that..... they loved it, it kept me occupied and kept them out of their own parents air for a few hours!!

Not in the context you used it. ;)

Now LT.....you raised the thread about swimming...... not about my smoking habits, let's try and see if you can stick to that subject - can people swim and if not, why not.

CharlieO 30-07-2011 04:51 PM

I miss swimming. I regret not utilising my pool enough.

Jords.... bad!! LOL I missed that comment!! Charlie!!! You're as bad!!

I can understand you missing not having the pool outside your door. I never realised how much time I spent swimming until I came back home. One of the reasons I love my poolside holidays so much now.

Vicky. 30-07-2011 04:58 PM

Been able to swim for as long as I can remember.

One of my fave things to do actually

I haven't been swimming now in about 6 weeks. Which seems very odd when I could and probably would go swimming at least once a week every week for 4 years. I am so excited to go back for 2 weeks in october though only two months now. I really hope it goes quickly.

I almost drowned on my first holiday in Portugal after my dad chucked me in the water when he was pissed. Then I stopped going swimming with the rest of my school because I was the skinny, anaemic kid with the foam board of doom and the armbands in the kids end of the pool. The jock mentality scared the blood out of me and the smell of chlorine still terrifys me.

I'd probably like to swim but I've never learned since and it doesn't bother me as I don't go on sun holidays and don't go to the beach. Ireland's beaches aren't exactly picturesque. It's usually just the least rocky bit of the coast.
