Does it suck being an Arsenal fan at the moment?

Stubborn manager promising to invest in the squad, so far they've bought one teenage defender and the usual experienced player from the French league. They are close to signing yet another teenage player, when the fans want experienced players so the club can challenge for the league again and try to end this 7 years trophyless spell.

Their two best players supposedly want to go, the fans are crying out for them to be replaced and the weaknesses in their teams defence to be sorted out but nothing has been done so far. No wonder some are fed up!

Chamberlain..another young unproven player in a position that they don't even need

He's an idiot for moving when he had the perfect stage at Southampton, now he'll bench it up

Marc 08-08-2011 01:04 PM

Shouldn't it suck to be an Arsenal fan all the time?

Arsenal always let down, rarely win games against the big teams which is the difference.

Always makes me laugh when the journalists/some people call them the English version of Barcelona, they play attractive football but that's not to say they're the only team in the country who does. It really annoys me.

Not every team has to play like Barcelona because they will have their own style of football and different tactics, players etc.

Barca play lovely football and have an end product to go with it, Arsenal seriously lack that especially when Van Persie is injured so often. They've never replaced Henry and that's hurting them badly.

Barcelona have their own style but seriously not every team has to play like Barcelona to produce results because every team will have other ideas and some methods that Barcelona may have other teams may not want to do them.

Arsenal always try and walk the ball into the back of the net sometimes, they do lack that extra end product I agree and the never say die attitude also because some of their players begin to lose confidence when they're behind.

If they worked at bettering that then perhaps they would be in a better position now.

The pressure is off them this season because no one really expects them to do well and nearly all the predictions have them finishing outside the top 4 so it wouldn't surprise me if they had a good season

Shaun 08-08-2011 09:33 PM

:bawling: yes, yes it does. I really don't understand why the fans are so patient with Wenger - they keep spouting the usual "unbeaten season, 3 league wins" (or whatever it is, I've forgotten ) but that was over 6 years ago now. We spend a whole summer to negotiate one signing and even then it tends to be an outgoing one, and as lovely as some of the youngsters we've secured have been, there've also been some big letdowns - Walcott in particular.

And then there's all of the others who aren't ever given a chance. I think Carlos Vela had the potential to be big but now he's just flung out on loan and left to dry... in favour of Chamakh? Please.

We need a reliable goalkeeper. That is, imo, our primary concern. The midfield and defence are relatively okay (but I would rather have a big name defender too), and we could do with someone of Arshavin and van Persie's calibre up front.

I agree that the pressure will be less for you guys but there is still clearly some problems e.g. the defence not being sorted out. Playing Fabregas and Nasri when they might want to go could cause a negative influence in the dressing room is risky.

You guys definetly need an older and experienced GK but the defence needs a few new players in. Wenger keeps blaming it on the mental side of things from last season for the team but there's only been a slow bit of progress in the window?:conf:

Gervinho is a really good signing. He isn't going to be scoring 20+ goals but he'll grab at least 10 in the league, and is definitely and improvement on Chamakh and Bendtner

Boothy 12-08-2011 08:11 PM

This is ****ing quality. I'm in tears.

Legend killer 12-08-2011 08:38 PM

Are there even Arsenal fans should be the question. Highbury wasnt called the Library for no reason

Locke. 13-08-2011 02:30 AM

Arsenal have agreed to sign teenage Costa Rican striker Joel Campbell from Deportivo Saprissa.

The deal for the 19-year-old is subject to the completion of formal agreements and processes.

Fabregas and Nasri out, Joel Campbell in

Legend killer 13-08-2011 10:01 AM

Nasri will be a much bigger lose than Fabregas. , in Wilshire they have someone who inho is just as good if not better than Fab but they have no one that is able to replace Nasri at this moment

They will struggle to finish top 8

Shaun 13-08-2011 06:43 PM

Great start. what a signing as well.

Can't believe the commentators were mouthing of about Barton for going down after Gervinho touched him.. the point is Gervinho should never have raised a hand, Barton was always going to make the most of the opportunity to get him sent of just like any other player would do in his position today

Legend killer 13-08-2011 07:00 PM

Barton what a legend would have him at United in a shot fergie would sort his rough edges out nicely and if not Nemanja would soon sort him out

bbfan1991 13-08-2011 08:29 PM

Gervinho diving on his debut and sent off, well Barton showed his thuggish qualities again by grabbing the Arsenal player and should have got a red card too instead of yellow.

I don't think what happened in the box with Gervinho and Newcastle players was a penalty either.

Alex Song should have got his marching orders for his dirty tackle on Barton, no wonder JB was getting annoyed. That aside it was a dull match but this controversy lightened it up and now everyone is debating.

Footie fans are fickle as usual because we slate other teams players for doing things and then our players do the same but then we are not impressed by everything and rightly criticise players for doing wrong things:joker:.

bbfan1991 13-08-2011 08:31 PM

Today's events even more disastrous for Arsenal alongside off the pitch issues because Gervinho will be out for 3 games through suspension and Song might get charged by FA now for that tackle.

Arsenal now have games against Liverpool, Udinese and Manchester United coming up.

Wildcat! 13-08-2011 09:10 PM

Whatever happened to 30stone ???
