Nicki Minaj Breaks Female Rapper Record With ‘SuperBass’

in what will be sure to rattle the cages of many of her naysayers, Nicki Minaj has once again surpassed the achievements of female rappers everywhere on the Billboard Hot 100.

This time with her single ‘SuperBass’.

This weeks #3 on the Billboard Hot 100, ‘SuperBass‘ is the highest charting single to be released by a female Rapper in the last nine years since Missy Elliot’s ‘Work It’ reached #2 in 2002.

This comes as phenomenal news for the entertainer’s fans as the single has achieved this feat without the aid of a featured artist, highlighting Minaj’s ever growing star power.

Now certified double platinum, ‘Bass’ has sold more units that any single released by Rap Queen Lil Kim whose feud with the Pop star was overshadowed by the success of Minaj’s #1 album ‘Pink Friday’ which has sold over 1.5 million copies since its release in November 2010.

Good for Nikki:worship:. She needs to capitalise on Superbass' populairty here too, it was her highest charting single here and she should promote herself in the UK more.

Don't be silly we don't want to embarrass the poor girl by putting her up against a much better Rapper

Shaun 11-08-2011 06:03 PM

it's not really a broken record if Missy Elliott is still beating her success

Patrick 11-08-2011 06:08 PM

Over rated ***** that only chavy little 'Ghetto Wanna-be' girls listen too.

Smithy 11-08-2011 06:19 PM

what record has that broke? :conf2:

Locke. 11-08-2011 06:20 PM

She is ok but she is overrated.

And if my brother plays that Where Dem Girls At song one more time I'm going to throw his computer into the street

The highest charting single to be released by a female rapper in the last 9 years record

CharlieO 11-08-2011 06:23 PM

Its not really a rap song though. I'd class superbass as a pop song.

Smithy 11-08-2011 06:24 PM

I still don't see how that breaks a record, seeing as it's below missy elliot :s

reece(: 11-08-2011 06:33 PM

the song does have someone featuring though, albeit mostly ad-libs

I love Superbass!

But Missy Elliots 'Work It' Kicks Nicki's ass anyday :D

Don't really like her music, but i do like this song!

Shaun 11-08-2011 06:57 PM

-can't think of any female rappers who've been active in the past 9 years other than Missy, and even she hasn't for the last 5 or so-

Never heard of her D:

I like Superbass, especially the chorus.

But generally I find her rapping annoying; she sounds like a bratty 8 year old and I can't understand 80% of what she even says. Besides the tedious "I am Nicki minaj" bit and the chorus.

I think rap is about being the right person at the right time with the right producers rather than actual rap skills. 50 cent and Kanye are woeful rappers to my ears. Mumbling and flat.

Eminen raps with speed and articulation. Im not a rap fan generally but I can at least hear his rap skills.
