Gareth Gates is due to perform for two nights on board the Oceana cruise ship, it has been announced.

The Pop Idol runner-up will set sail on the P&O ship to Bruges next month. He will join the cruise when it leaves Southampton on September 3.

Gates will perform a selection of his tracks including 'Stupid Mistake' and 'Sunshine' in front of up to 2,000 passengers, as well as signing autographs and speaking to fans after the show.

"I'm really excited about performing on board Oceana, I've never been on a cruise ship before but I've always wanted to, and so this is going to be a fantastic experience for me," Gates said.

P&O Cruises managing director Carol Marlow said: "Entertainment is one of the key elements of any cruise holiday and we are proud of our vast range of entertainment and guest appearances.

"Gareth is a worldwide pop star and we are very excited to have him perform on board Oceana. We are sure he will be a great hit with passengers on this weekend cruise."

Gates said in early 2009 that he had no plans to record a new album after securing the lead role in the West End version of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

Well his career's just sailing away, isn't it.

well there's no need to be a wanchor about it kerry

InOne 12-08-2011 12:54 AM

To be fair at least he's not being a fame ***** or anything. It's not like he asked this article to be wrote. He's doing his own thing and some cunt thought they'd make news out of it, it not like he claimed to have a career is it.

Well I like him, good on him :) Work is work, and it is work he obviously enjoys :) His career may not be as high profile anymore, but at least he is still in work :)

I like Gareth and although he is not at the top in show business now, he still has talent. I hope it goes well for him and hope the future is good for him too.

Hopefully he won't be rocking the boat with Jordan this time ;)

He's not my cup of tea, but I agree.

LOLZ I'd love to see Gareth on CBB...I think he is maybe a little bit too high profile now
Booked tickets to see him in Hair later this year. He was in Les Mis for a while and was quite good! He was even voted in the top 10 past performers http://www.cheaptheatretickets.com/t...les-mis-stars/ which shows that he was good.

I reckon he would be so funny in CBB...
