Richard Desmond: "I want 20m viewers for Big Brother"

...but says he would be happy if the show only gets a tenth of that.

Is he for real?

Beastie 16-08-2011 12:11 AM

Providing us with 24 7 live feed would be a good start to secure more viewers.

Look at what happened with BB10. Dropped 2 million viewers because of NO Live Feed :nono:

He's joking. The article quotes him as saying he wants 20m viewers, but would be happy with a tenth of that, which would be 2m.

Oh, didn't notice that haha :P

Bruvva 16-08-2011 12:13 AM

So 2m is the benchmark for the series then.

Sam:) 16-08-2011 12:13 AM

Ha and I want €20Million euro, but that's not going to happen

Stu 16-08-2011 12:17 AM

I wish I could be excited. I want to be excited. But the likely lack of live feed and soap style production rumblings have destroyed it for me.

We might see that for the launch show but for the HLs I not so sure. I cannot find anyone who is guaranteed to watch. The biggest CBB fans I know basicaly my Mum and eldest daughter wont commit. Mums not watching because my Dad hates it and as he is recovering from well dying to be blunt and then revived he gets his own way a lot. My daughter hates Jedward and Katona with venom so if they are in shes out which will be the first Celeb version she has ever missed. No interest around friends but like me they havent watched for a few years. In the office 100 or so people none of the usual chats and gossip speculation about BB there was still quite a lot of that in the run up to last year.
It will be interesting to see what happens.

Agree - I mean I could just about dismiss the whole 'No Live Feed this year, sorry guys!' thing - but I mean openly ******ing saying that they'll make it a Soap Opera is making me sick.
It's like they want to piss us off.

keithafc 16-08-2011 08:38 AM

Don't watch it then. Im sure the rest of us will enjoy the soap opera.

joeysteele 16-08-2011 09:02 AM

I think it will likely exceed 2 million, Neighbours still gets around 1.3 million viewers and CSI gets around 1.5 to 2 million. Both on Channel 5.

I would think 2 million will be the average at least this year for BB, it was in fact only a bit more on Channel 4 last year anyway, but I can actually see it hitting 3+ million at times too.

If it does more than that then a great success it will be, even at an average of 2 million it will be the likely highest rated programme on Channel 5.

The_Big_Send_Off 16-08-2011 09:12 AM

on the overnight ratings, if c5 get two or three programs that average around 1.5m they always beat c4 overall! if c5 had +1 they would beat them all the time! i hope c5 destroy c4 tbh lmaoo

BBDodge 16-08-2011 10:38 AM

To pull in that many viewers it would have to lose its edge and become some family friendly light entertainment show.

Keep it cult.
