The Season Will be Cancelled...

Thought to leave you with this...
Five's Big Brother Reboot went horribly wrong. In nearly every way on every level.
Far from the hopes of a genuine reboot. No 're-imagining'. No years off. No fresh start. No reconstruction 'Back to Basics'. No return to the original 'serious' implications.

It's the worst case scenario. It is wringing-out the left-overs. A cheap 'knock-off' of C4s series resold to the public.
Exploiting what (its imagined) is Davina's hardcore die-hard fans. Flamboyant gays, loving Brian, love gay disco nightclubs and as many fake blondes and idiot barely-celebrities. Idiotic relationship nonsense.

OK, no need to analyze this much more. Its obvious what it is. It's terrible. A terrible mistake.

But when will it be cancelled?

By 'Cancelled' (in the case of this kind of program) it means cut-short. Wrapped-up. Early closure.
They will still do the various obligatory votes/winner etc.

I say it makes it only 70% through its scheduled run before it's told to wrap it up within a week or two at most.
And that will be the end.
Of Big Brother.

Feel free to put your predictions here.

King Gizzard 19-08-2011 02:51 AM

Even if it flops I doubt they'll cancel it having paid 200m for it

'Conor 19-08-2011 02:52 AM

it was amazing.

Kind of agree, though its far too early to say the long term outcome yet i think. THEE major screw up is (of course) the lack of a live feed, that we would all be watching now without doubt. We'll see.

CharlieO 19-08-2011 02:57 AM

I don't think it will flop because the general british public seems to be into this sort of mess they have made the series into. They have clearly focused it on gullible youths with low expectations of what entertainment is.

The rating will be high enough for Channel 5 to milk a few seasons out of it before killing it of forever. In hindsight I now wish it had been left a few years and 4 resurrected it in a serious manor. The only thing we can hope for now is a complete revamp for BB13, however it is very unlikely until this 'new' wave of shallow entertainment has died out.

But in my eyes true Big Brother is over. However hypocritical as it sounds I will still be watching but not for the reasons I watched Channel 4's version nor will I adore it in the same way.

I agree with the OP on all aspects other than the fact it will be cancelled. If it was I wouldn't care though.

But...the run of CBB8 is only scheduled to be 3 weeks, yes? So if it makes it 70% through its scheduled run, that's roughly 2/3rds, or 2 weeks...then what would be the point of telling it to "wrap it up within a week or two at most" when it would reach its natural conclusion a week later?

Wow, I have heard early prediction BS before but this takes the cake.

Zippy 19-08-2011 03:04 AM

I agree that they havent brought anything fresh to the table to boost its future. Can't see it attracting any new viewers...which it needed to do to be a proper success.

But channel 5 survive on small ratings so it certainly will not be scrapped mid-season. That's just nonsense.

NXS 19-08-2011 03:04 AM

No disrespect to anyone but the thread starter here seems like someone who's simply disappointed that things didn't turn out the way THEY wanted it too... from what I've seen and heard so far everyone has been very excited and satisfied with how things have gone thus far... even with the nixing of the live feed and the no Sheen or Tyson... honestly... I thought it was a good kick off to the CBB and honestly CBB isn't the reason I watch the show anyway... and you can't compare the CBB to the normal BB because they will be completely different...

It's WAY too soon to be making forecasts such as this...

SimBrotherNetwork 19-08-2011 03:09 AM

I cant see the show being axed at all myself!
But however, i can see a massive re-vamp for BB13, new look, new twists, and live feed being back on red button! We will see, ill make my mind up on how the show will do when we get the viewing numbers for the launch

I lost track of how they are doing this but my understanding was this is supposed to be some kind of pre-season deal with the celebrity BB? Is there supposed to be some kind of break between series now? I'm honestly under the impression this just 'rolls into' the other somehow?

iRyan 19-08-2011 03:15 AM

Even if it flopped terribly, they already signed a deal for BB13. So it doesn't really matter.

Valdora 19-08-2011 03:15 AM

As soon as the ratings drop (if they drop) twists will go into overdrive as will publicity. BB will not be judged ratings wise on the same scale as they were on C4. C5 is no where near as big.

Jords 19-08-2011 03:16 AM

wat

JohnnyBB 19-08-2011 03:19 AM

You are under the correct impression don't worry. There is a one day break and they are basically the same season.

yes. yes. yes. and i won't get tired of bemoaning the lack of a live feed!

Colbert-Bump 19-08-2011 03:45 AM

I'm disappointed with C5's efforts so far and the twist last night was totally lame, let's hope this is not a sign of what's to come.

but it seems that kind of core audience doesn't seem to need live-feeds.
Gay 20 year old 'kinda-goth' chubby young man and his ladyfriend who can't get enough of Josie kissing JJ.

Strangely, this crowd doesn't seem to need live-feeds. I'm not sure why. They just seem delighted with only the edited presentations.

My thinking is that this core group (imo being exploited in the worst kind of way) but this core group is hardcore but cannot make the big ratings or advertisement money.

sword in the stone 19-08-2011 03:55 AM

Didnt think it was so bad, but its gonna be hard to adjust to the show without a live feed,it changes everything regarding the show. one hour of edited highlights a day? not enough. Is everyone really gonna be on here late in future nights talking about BB? as we would be if the LF was on? i doubt any 'uproar' on facebook or whatever is gonna budge the production (demolition?) teams view on reinstating it. what a shame.

yeah, maybe we'll have to face the fact that BB is back, but it isnt. it's a new show aimed at that new breed you mention. What a ********ng shame.
The live feed is what the show is all about dumbasses!

billy123 19-08-2011 04:17 AM

They did a great job with the relaunch (with the exception of OKTV trash) but the live feed issue will choke the life out of the show so all the effort was wasted i think c5 are shell shocked at the moment with the hostility and scale of the live feed reaction.

Will they wake up or will they dig their heels in it has become that simple as to whether this will sink or swim the facebook page was a complete write off last night one of the video updates was up to near a thousand comments and i couldnt find a comment that wasnt about live feed they deleted around 600 comments before giving up and posting more videos.
The youtube channel well the comments section is much the same mess and everything they posted has 2/3rds thumbs down.

They have an out and that is to announce 24/7 live feed online for the main series but they need to make that announcement asap that is the only way they can make it work.

Channel 5 are relying on this to work they have spent twice as much on this as it cost them to buy the channel if this fails then channel 5 may cease to exist.
Lets hope they wake up.

Grotbags 19-08-2011 04:17 AM

I didn't mind the main show too much, although it was blatantly obvious that Bobby Wotsit was a last minute replacement.

I was very very disappointed in the shoddy and cheap looking Bit on the Side though.

It won't be cancelled. They have spent too much money for that to happen.

And OP, I'm a flamboyant, slightly chubby (but not goth) gay and I don't care for Brian Dowling, gay disco nightclubs, many fake blondes and idiot barely-celebrities or the fake JJJ relationship one jot so do please try not to stereotype. You've posted 3 times in this thread and mentioned gays twice. I think your problem may be with something other than the new Big Brother.

I want to see an entertaining non-fake *cough-BB11-cough* show. As it is only the first night I will reserve judgement.
