The cost of the live feed

I'm just wondering how much the live feed would set Channel 5 back? I'm having a bit of a tiff with someone on twitter who's saying Channel 5 couldn't afford the Live Stream, which I think is a pretty daft excuse - I'm sure they more than could afford it.. but enlighten me, am I wrong?

It wouldn't cost them a thing, all they would have to do is ask Endemol they want a online live feed

His argument is: "Do you really think C5 could afford to buy a new transmitter solely for big brother streaming?"

I don't even know HOW to answer that ha!

It's not Channel 5 that would pay for that, that's Endemols job the makers of the show

They already have a live stream. It's in the gallery. It's just a matter of getting a small team of people to work on filtering it through either to Channel 5 or on the web. Or both.

They would need to pay those people, pay for a new transmitter perhaps for TV broadcast and/or pay for servers to get in up and running online. But it's hardly a drop in the ocean compared to what they payed for the show and the current cast.

And people are more than willing to pay for it online.

Surely, Channel 5 bought the rights to show any type of Big Brother product they wanted - and surely Endemol already have the means of doing it, wouldn't it just be a case of rebooting everything like last year?

Well you say that but ive seen alot of people on here say that they refused to pay for an online live stream when they thought we would get one

Yeah I call them the minority.

They could always stream it on YoutubeLive if cost was an issue. I think its probably more to do with the hassle of additional legal precautions

If we got a feed for BB12 - I'd rather have it on Channel 5 a few hours in the afternoon and at night to be honest, no point in paying 20 Quid for a stream I'll probably not get to watch that much because of school and stuff in Winter.

But then again we could always just watch the low quality streams.

In saying that, next Summer for BB13 - I'd be more than happy to pay for it, because I could use it constantly and not just at night.

The Red Button >>>>>>>>>>> All.

live feed it costs £750.000 (and pulls in only 20k max in viewers) per season.
