The X Factor judge, with help from producer Labrinth, has orchestrated a reworked version of the touching Massive Atack [sic. quality journalism here from The Sun.] song Teardrop for Children In Need.

It will be the first non-comedy and credible [lol] single the charity has ever released.

After weeks of graft behind the scenes, the cream of young rapping talent finally joined forces under one roof to record the song earlier this week. And as anyone who has worked with the characters involved will tell you, just getting them to turn up on time deserves a medal.

Speaking at the Metropolis studios in west London, Gary told me: "I think this is a brilliant project. Children In Need has a history of doing upbeat singles with comedians but it's a serious charity doing a lot of hard work for serious causes.

"It's time to do something with artists who young people actually listen to. I've done these things before, I'm used to doing group situations, I like it - it's a challenge. It hasn't been easy. But bless him, Labrinth and his manager have been the key to the whole thing.

"I met up with them and they started doing the whole lot, talking to friends etc, and all of a sudden the word started to get out. Hopefully we should be nailed on for a No1 - and raise loads of money in the process."

Gary has put an impressive list of talent together with Lab - the man who co-wrote Tinie Tempah's massive hit Pass Out. He has produced the track, featuring Ed Sheeran, Rizzle Kicks, Dappy, Fazer, Tulisa, Miss Dynamite, Wretch 32, Tinchy Stryder, Mz Bratt and Dot Rotton.

The single is out on November 13 but Gary and Labrinth are stuck for a name for the collective - and they need your ideas.

Every time I read Dappy with anything to do with music I die a little inside

Only thing I approve of on this list is Ed Sheeran because despite the fact his songs are ridiculously overplayed and caters horribly for chavs-being-indie, he is a ginger sex god.

Patrick 27-08-2011 10:32 AM

Oh God.

The Bristish music industry needs shaking up fast. We seem to be stuck in a depressing rut of bad quality 'rappers', regurgitated songs that are not even good covers/remixes and a serious lack of any real talent to impress the world.

Tom 27-08-2011 04:27 PM

If Gary is as good a song writer as some of the media would have us believe then why can't he just write a new song with the same kind of vibe? Oh whats that? ITS BECAUSE HE'S SH*T!!!

The reason Teardrop works so well is because its the same voice and builds up and up throughout the whole song and thats going to be completely lost with about a million people taking it in turns to sing a bit. if the BBC wanted a credible song but one that will catch on in the mainstream then they should have just asked Adele to use one of her singles off her album or something

It really is awful. :bored: I think Tulisa sounds good on the chorus though.

Tom4784 08-10-2011 01:11 AM

They should have just dropped a nuke when they were all gathered in the recording studio.

Benjamin 08-10-2011 01:16 AM

Why did I even listen to that? :bored:
