Call Of Duty Elite Revealed

Call of Duty Elite, the social networking service that will launch as part of Modern Warfare 3, has been detailed in full by Activision.

Premium members will gain access to all downloadable content first, with a new map being released once a month, with the subscription working out cheaper than purchasing individual map packs.

Call of Duty Elite subscribers will have access to new game modes, Spec Ops missions, and exclusive contests for all skill levels offering real-world prizes.

Clan support will be expanded to including a ranking and levelling system, while video uploading capacity will be expanded eight-fold.

Elite users will also have access to more video content. High production value strategy videos will be released on a regular basis to help improve player skills.

Elsewhere, premium programming using in-game footage from Modern Warfare 3 will be produced by Hollywood talent.

Tony and Ridley Scott will create a show titled Friday Night Fights, seeing long-standing rivals face one another in-game, such as cops versus firefighters, Republicans versus Democrats and various celebrity cameos.

Jason Bateman and Will Arnett's production company Dumb Dumb will curate Noob Tube, a You've Been Framed-style comedy show featuring user-submitted clips of mistakes and player gaffes.

Elite will also offer a series of free content for all Modern Warfare 3 users, including extensive stat-tracking, integration with Facebook friends, free iPhone, iPad and Android applications, the ability to share custom private playlists with users and more.

Call of Duty Elite's annual premium subscription will cost £34.99 in the UK and $49.99 in North America, and will also be available as part of the Hardened Edition of the game.

The service will launch alongside Modern Warfare 3 on November 11 worldwide on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Call of Duty Elite's premium feature set in full:

All downloadable content will be given to subscribers for free
Maps will be available first to subscribers and delivered on a monthly basis
New game modes and Spec Ops missions will be provided
Exclusive contests for all skill levels offering real-world prizes
Expanded clan support with levelling up and leaderboards
Eight times more video uploading capacity
Additional support and strategy videos

Dunno weither to get MW or Battlefield :bawling:

Iceman 03-09-2011 12:25 AM

Definitely getting MW3 first, will get battlefield for Xmas...

Stu 03-09-2011 12:29 AM

Piss off. My money commitments end with buying the game. I'm not pouring even more money into some overpriced super service for blinkered fanboys.

Battlefield 3 looks like it's going to kick it in the dirt anyway. Although I'm still very happy with Halo over any war shooters.

Iceman 03-09-2011 12:33 AM

I dont min paying at all so long as the DLC is good. was a bit dissapointed with the Maps for Black Ops though, one of them is absolutely huge, so you can literally go through the round and get 1 kill....

COD is the same game repackaged EVERY year. This Elite crap is just another way to siphon money of morons who pay £15 for a couple of maps. Nothing about the core game has changed since the first MW. That's what....five games all together? COD is a mug's game.

You could say the same for FIFA or the WWE games. Personally I don't mind paying fifty quid a year for a refined sequel with various improvements and upgrades along with the core gameplay that I love. And I'm not alone. It's just the type of franchise that it is. It's the FIFA of shooters.

I'll probably buy it at some point because the dissapointing thing is that Battlefield 3 will be crap on consoles. Half the players online that the PC can do and at 30 frames per second compared to 60 on the PC and 60 for Call Of Duty which is developed primarily for the Xbox 360.

Battlefield will be the better game but only on the PC.

Sounds ****

Bob Kotick's office

Suit: Hey Bob, the map packs are doing really well, but the thing is we only release two of them each game!

Bobby: Just add a subscription fee then!

Suit: You mean like an MMORPG?

Bobby: Sure! Why not charge the same fee as them too! Even though you will be running around in a map the size of your grandma's backgarden!

Call Of Duty will go the way of the dodo early next generation. It's Activision. Take a look at Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero.

I don't know about Fifa since I hate football but I can at least remember each WWE game being fairly different to each other but COD is just a stale series and there hasn't been any big changes in years. It would be better if they took more then a year on each game and really tried to make it special but they won't and it'll be Activision's greed that will end up killing this series.

Iceman 03-09-2011 12:47 AM

I think its fine but then again Ive only started playing COD with Black Ops so its all still fairly new to me.

The Smackdown Vs. Raw series has had the same core gameplay for years now. It gets a new roster and some new match types every year along with some mundane aesthetic or mechanical tweaks to what is the same game. Same as with Call Of Duty, really.

It's Modern Warfare 2.5, fo'sho, but Activision is a business and this will sadly outsell plenty of other AAA titles this year combined. And whilst I do think the trend will end eventually the series has been getting bigger and bigger every single year.

When Modern Warfare 4 or COD : Gulf Warz or whatever comes out I expect it will sell buckets too. With Tony Hawk you could see the demise coming for years. With this? I don't know.

Ah, my brother only picks up a wrestling game every few years so the changes seem more drastic to me.

Stu 03-09-2011 12:51 AM

Wrestling games have largely been on a downwards spiral since WCW Vs. NWO Revenge on the N64.

Scarlett. 03-09-2011 12:52 AM

Apparently Battlefield 3 has a free version of CoD Elite - Battlelog
