Ignorant midwife

Mum had her 12 week scan a couple of weeks back and because she has been so sick she asked if the baby was getting all of the nutrients it needed from her at such an early tine in the pregnancy as she literally couldn't keep anything down. Midwife then went on to say: "Well, Ethiopian babies are fine", rolled her eyes and said nothing more about it

I am very excited though, I've never really had any babies that have had that much to do with my life as no-one in my family has had children for quite a while so it will be nice to have one to help look after. Will give me some essential practice for when I have kiddies of my own. Cant wait to start driving in a few months and be able to take him/her out to the beach and that when I have breaks from uni (if I go that far from home when I start uni) will be really nice to have 'magical' xmases again as the magic kind of wore off when I found out about Santa. (which was quite young as I distinctively remember that it was my grandad who was Santa at one of the shops in town and mum took us to see him there, stupidly

Anyway, didn't mean to update you on my life as I've clearly gone off of the topic and it's still the OP

Apparently, sick is good :conf: My midwife told me that sickness is normal and shows that everything is normal. More to worry about if you don't feel sick at all. I have no idea what's true and what's not these days though.

Also, the sicker you are, the more likely the babys a boy... again, not sure if true.

Anyway, good luck to your mam and tell her to eat ginger and buy travel sickness bands.

Heard that too actually. Was really sick with me and my brother to the point that she had to stay in hospital for a few weeks at the start of her pregnancy so they could put her on a drip. Not so badthis time though but it's lasted a lot longer than her previous 2 pregnancies as she was absolutely fine after te 11/12 week Mark and had 2 really nice pregnancies. She's hoping for a girl as she's had two boys now but Im hoping for a boy so can have a little pal

I was more sick with my daughter than my son though lol

Congratulations Lewis! That sickness usually stops after 12 weeks anyway so hopefully your mom will start to feel better soon
