Meaningless?

I came across an article on The Guardian website about this latest series, and how well it is doing.

Part of the article runs as follows...

"When we were on Channel 4 the show always had to 'mean something'," says a member of the Endemol production team, who did not wish to be named. "On Channel 5 it can just be pure entertainment." Ford echoes the sentiment. "We have really taken it away from the shackles of social experimentation," he says. "People are enjoying it a lot more, it is more honest."

I personally wish it was back to the old Channel 4 days where it DID mean something...i think this series while fun has been a bit too tacky for my liking.

More honest? Shackles? I think this present style is less honest and also has more shackles. And what he defines as good entertainment may well differ from quite a few other people.

I don't think it meant anything on ch4 since about 2002. But ch5 have certainly taken it to new depths.

I think the person that said that needs a reality check tbh, how can they say it's more honest when they can edit it whatever way they like due to lack of live feed and most of the people I know who use to love it are turning off.

Totally agree with you Josy, there is no real hype for the show at all this year, usually on final nights this place is buzzing.
