So embarrassed

Went to do the monthly shop today, I usually keep track of how much Im spending, so I did, but I was talking all the way round the shop and must have messed up somewhere, get to the counter with an overflowing trolley, get it all cashed out, and its £17 over the amount of cash I have on me...and my bank card is in the house :bored:

The girl just gave me a horrid look when I said she would have to take some of the stuff off :bored:

I'm actually traumatized. I see this happen to other people, it doesnt happen to me :bored:

CharlieO 20-09-2011 02:35 PM

I hate that. To say you don't have enough is so embarrassing. When ever I am in doubt I just put stuff back before even if I need it. Or always take extra money just incase.

CharlieO 20-09-2011 02:36 PM

Oh and if there is a queue behind you. I die on the spot.

Niamh. 20-09-2011 02:36 PM

Oh No! :/

Suze 20-09-2011 02:41 PM

You shouldn't let it embarass you, it happens to a lot of people, It's happened to me before. Sod the silly girl on the till just because it is a bit of hassle for her. She gets paid for her job and should just get on with it.

Say loud and proud, oops I miscalculated, and give anyone who gives you a dirty look a defiant stare back :D

Benjamin 20-09-2011 02:44 PM

I did it once when at uni. I brought about £50 worth of shopping, she scanned it all and I packed it up, then came to pay and had forgotten my bank card. I was like OMG I'm so sorry. I almost died as there was a massive queue behind me too.

Locke. 20-09-2011 02:45 PM

Shouldn't be so bloody greedy then

Vicky. 20-09-2011 02:46 PM

Luckily there was no queue. But some people came to use the same checkout while she was scanning the things to put back and she was like 'I need to put these back through, she doesnt have enough money for them. And after that I will have to go put them back' :bored:

Chuck 20-09-2011 02:53 PM

OMG she said that? what a bitch :bored:

That's actually quite horrid Vicky, what she said. I'd have called the manager or something, she didnt have the right or the need to humiliate your even more :hmph:

I just wanted to get out of there as fast as possible, not stand around for 3 hours waiting for the manager to waddle down the stairs just to say sorry and nothing else be done

Benjamin 20-09-2011 03:06 PM

You should have dropped milk on her checkout so she had to clean it up.

Kate! 20-09-2011 03:07 PM

It has happened to me too once Vicky, but the shop assistant in my case was nice enough about it. This cow has clearly never heard of customer service, and deserves kicking up the backside. I would have complained. :) Now make yourself a nice cuppa and forget all about it

:laugh2: I wish I had thought of that at the time

Though I probably wouldnt have done it still...not how I was feeling at that moment. If I recognise her next time I go I may do something similar though :D

It happened to me the other day when I was clothes shopping. There was a pair of jeans that cost a lot more then I could afford but I didn't know until I got to the till since they were in with the more affordable ones. The woman gave me a dirty look so I stared right back and told her this wouldn't have happened if she sorted out her shop once in a while.

I should have really pushed the issue really since if shops mislabel products then they have to sell it to you at the price advertised but I felt I gave her enough of a verbal bitch slap already so I left it.

InOne 20-09-2011 04:15 PM

Just hope you'll see her in a dark alley on a night out

Z 20-09-2011 04:16 PM

I'm convinced this is going to happen to me at some point this year when I don't know how to explain that I don't have enough money in German, which will be around 10 times more awkward. ~socially awkward~
