X Factor USA Underwhelms

Quote:

It's a quiet start, but maybe it just needs to some time to gather some momentum? Maybe?

The preliminary numbers are in and the X Factor didn't do as well as we imagine FOX and Simon Cowell has hoped. The show averaged an 8.7 rating for the season premiere.

To put that into perspective, this past 10th season of American Idolpulled in a 16.4 rating, nearly double of Factor's numbers.

Like we said, they could've done better, but they also could've done much worse. The show needs to find its footing a bit and let audiences see that there are differences between it and Idol. We're not too worried about it, especially considering all the amazing talent that turned out just in last night's episode!

Pretty surprised tbh, thought it'd be an instant hit. It's on ITV2 tonight @ 8pm, is anyone watching? :D

Doogle 22-09-2011 06:36 PM

Yeah I'll watch on +1

Callum 22-09-2011 06:59 PM

Another article highlighting how badly it did

Much worse than AI, Simon said if he didn't get ratings of 20m+ he wouldn't be happy.

In all honesty if they brought pop idol back it would flop because there isnt really much room for 2 singing talent contests, so why would you take X factor to america when american idol is still so big?

Jordan. 23-09-2011 01:24 PM

LOL. Even our XF does better than that.

Marc 23-09-2011 01:39 PM

I hope it fails. I love both AI and TXF UK so :hmph:

Niamh. 23-09-2011 01:42 PM

It's big pile of stinking poo. Watched it last night, won't be watching tonight.

Marc 23-09-2011 01:50 PM

I might watch any good performances

Marc 23-09-2011 01:54 PM

If anybody recommends them obviously :D

Disappointing ratings, but I think they will grow once bootcamp and live shows begin. Auditions are the most boring part of X-factor in my opinion. But this guy from first episode was awesome : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYPTS_39I8g

Because we have it, and whatever we have - the Americans try to take it.

It was actually pretty good. SOme of the acts on there were incredible, even some groups. Huge contrast from the UK Xfactor auditions, which usually has 80% crap acts. The US one was more like 80% good acts, and like 20% crap and joke acts.

I was expecting it to be about this much. Its half what american idol gets. It will be like this until some amazing acts are found, and the audience tunes in more. BUt for now, I dont know how they expected anything more than 8 million viewers. Its still one of the highest rated shows, on its debut. Pretty good Id say.

What part was that! The fact that the acts were 100 times better than anything in the UK Xfactor. Or is it the fact that they dont focus on the joke acts, as much as the UK Xfactor, or the fact that the judges are a lot more knowledgeble. TAKE your pick!

if thats what you call crap, then fair enough.

Marc 23-09-2011 03:34 PM

I wonder if it'll ever take over AI

No way!!! That show has got way to big of a loyal fan base. And just the title "american idol" makes it the standard. All other shows will always be considered rip offs! :)

No, the acts were very good, that's true but like that girl, the 13 year old at the start, she had an amazing voice but I wanted to punch her, she was so annoying (yes I know that's awful) The judges really annoyed me too, especially Paula, talk about dramatic, as if she actually puked after that guy flashed them :bored:

Yeah the talent was good but It's such a big cheese fest, I don't think I could sit through another episode.

I can't see many of the idol fans swapping over. Unless they're Cowell fans!

Marc 23-09-2011 03:58 PM

ROFL Niamh.. Punching little kids :suspect:

Kate! 23-09-2011 04:00 PM

I will probably watch it, but only when it gets to the actual "live shows" after bootcamp etc.

Cheese fest! LOL! Its a cheese fest because its a rip off of the Xfactor UK. All that cheese and drama is copied from the UK version of the Xfactor! Are you kidding me! All the quitting the show and coming back crap, walking off the stage, thats the Xfactor. You never saw that on American Idol!

Oh believe me I'm fed up with the UK version too. Eventhough the fact that Simon and Cheryl aren't in it anymore helps and the fact that he's now on the US version doesn't help my opinion on it either!

Beastie 23-09-2011 04:08 PM

What goes up must come down.

Simon Cowell might as well retire now.

Locke. 23-09-2011 04:09 PM

Talent wise it was A LOT better than the UK, and there was hardly any airtime for awful and joke acts which is great.

I don't really like the judging panel though, I prefer ours.
