Memory Help

I have an Acer laptop and under 'Computer' I have 2 drives; ACER (C:) and ACERDATA (D:).

I only have 5.85GB free of 70.6GB for the ACER (C:) drive but 70.2GB free of 70.6GB for the ACERDATA (D:) drive.

Whats the difference? And how do I use the memory of the latter drive?

Ive been googling but still puzzled :conf:
I need to know because I have so many music files and figured I had to delete some in order to make room for new music... but maybe this ACERDATA (D:) thing is my answer LOL.

Hiya Jords,

I suggest you right click on the 'ACERDATA' drive (that is a terrible name btw. I would simply rename it to D), and select 'create shortcut'. The default shortcut should be to your desktop but double check.
Now open the drive by double clicking on the new shortcut. Right click anywhere and select 'new' then 'folder'. Give this folder a name. Media or music or whatever you want really. From now on you can save anything you want in this new folder. You can also right click and create as many sub folders as you want.

Thanks Dilligaf, am I able to move all my iTunes music over to this shortcut? All will iTunes not read the files and I have to add them all again? (I know its probably gonna take hours)

Ninastar 25-09-2011 12:13 PM

yeah if you move the files at all, you will have to add them all again

You could change the settings for where you save your Itunes data and transfer it all across to your D drive. And use that as your storgae area in future.

I had to delete my iTunes Libary and make a new one... lost me play counts but everything is sorted now and saves onto the D Drive so plent of memory :D

Happy days... eventually!

Glad you got it sorted Jords.

You can pretty much store anything on the D partition but don't try to move program files or windows files to there or it could cause problems, you can also remove the D partition altogether and have have the extra space from there on your C partition, but I wouldnt advise doing that if your unsure how to.

Thanks Josy! Yeah I dont think Ill be doing that things seem to be good memory-wise now :D
