When people take Big Brother too seriously

Now i have been guilty of this i know, but something on twitter made me realise that it really is just a game show and people need to chill; Obviously i am an Aaron fan so i look at the tweets about him and i knew it would be hard work because of his stance against Jay but i was shocked and saddened when i saw tweets wishing that something would happen to his son (wish he would just die was the phrase( just because he criticised Jay, it was the same with Rebeckah getting death threats its just unreal

Its just a gameshow, they are all playing the game, yes even Alex and they will be forgotten in 2 months time, i just wish we could have healthy debate on her and other places without resorting to personal insults

It's pathetic, some people need to get a life, and the people who do say those things are much worse than the people the are talking about, some pe0ple are so brave behind that screen, you can bet in real life if they were confronted you wouldn't see their asses for dust!!I support Aaron and am proud of that fact.

Some people behave so nasty in BB that it brings out the worse in people. Unfortunately some people take it to another level and try to hurt someone they know will mean something to the hm they dislike. Thats the way some people are. You even said yourself that you have been guilty of this so you aren't in any position to try and appeal to others really.

If something on twitter only made you realise that it was only a gameshow then I rest my case. We can only try not to be like that. Thats life whether we like it or not.

You honestly think Aaron has behaved so nasty in BB that it justifies people wishing death on his son? I'm sorry, even if he had gone in and spat on someone like that Dennis, its still nothing to do with his son :bored: I dont care how much you hate Aaron, normal human beings would say that these people saying things like that are totally wrong, and ****ed in the head....not try to justify their behaviour.

Also, I very much doubt the OP meant they have been guilty of wishing death on housemates/their families. Theres a massive difference between getting too involved in the show(meaning you can see no wrong in anything your fave does, defend them 24/7 etc) and being a complete heartless ****.

Did you actually ready my post? Nothing justifies death threats being sent out to a hm or anyone connected to them. I was not on about Aaron either. I was on about some hms before you jump in with your size 12s. Quite a few hms have said they received death threats for certain actions they carried out in the house.

In this world if you behave a certain way in the house people will be upset by it and use it to be abusive and make threats towards you with. Its not acceptable but thats the way it is now.

Jarrod 09-10-2011 10:08 AM

I've said this quite a lot. Big Brother is taken to seriously and people need to calm down. Big Brother is after all a entertainment program. Threats on Aaron's son isn't right. What has Aaron's Son done to upset anyone? Nothing.

Yes I did, and it really did come across as a kinda 'well they are dicks so they deserve it' post.

Plus half the time its not even the nasty ones who get death threats/attacked etc.

Also the OP said she she had been guilty of this in the past it could mean anything, in the heat of the moment we all are guilty of going off on one from insulting a hms appearance to the extreme some people go in making death threats, at the end of the day it is all wrong because it is a gameshow.

But people still do it no matter what level we carry it to. Nothing justifies death threats but we can only hope we don't stoop to that level.

Anyone who even posts such things as a joke - seriously need their heads looked at.

Unfortunately: when anyone is in the public eye - god, even online - people do offer up such insults. People who do such things and say such things, clearly have issues - whether they are said in jest, or with malice -either way - anyone who uses such words should be undergoing some serious therapy. Unfortunately: there are some who take it further than mere words - complete and utter nutjobs. We've seen it happen with the girl Alex from a previous show with her house/car being trashed.

And you could say what has Aaron done to have someone target his son in this way? The answer is nothing but some people get carried away and behave that way because they know they can afterall its the internet without a face to it.

Erm i meant guilty of taking it too seriously!!(as in i step in to much and defend my fave even when i think hes not 100% right) Ive never resorted to some of things ive seen on here and twitter and there is NO justification for personal attacks and insluts on any contestant and especially not their family!!

If someone is issuing death threats, their IP address can be traced and the police can be involved. Maybe it's time some of these 'brave' people were prosecuted.

I hope if this is the case, that threats have been made, that that is precisely what Twitter should be doing - passing on details to the police.

yeah ive tried retracing my steps on twitter but as you can imagine there were 1000s of tweets going through last night, im still trying to find it tbh but i imagine people may have gone mad at the person and hopefully theyve deleted it!!

Well i bloody well hope so but twitter seems to be pretty crap at picking up these sorts of people, the amount of times i saw "why dont you just die" to Rebeckah when she came up is just unbelievable! no one deserves that, lot of respect for her that she didnt bite back!

Incensed 09-10-2011 10:34 AM

Hopefully someone has taken a screen grab of the offensive tweet and reported it to the police, or at least make BB aware of the situation and let them handle it. It really is sick and needs stopping.

I agree, but it seems death threats are never taken seriously its like okay once the show is over then the threats should dissolve or the person is told you went into the show knowing this sort of thing would happen, deal with it.
I think people making any kind of death threats should have their IP address traced and they should be given a warning.

The thing is if I made a threat to someone by post I am sure it would be taken very seriously, but the internet seems to have its own set of rules,
There is no excuse whatsoever and making threats to a child that has nothing to do with the show says so much about the persons character that is making the threats and they should be prosecuted.

Its not big and its not clever.

Agreed. The world of full of faceless cowards.

Gillian-73 09-10-2011 11:30 AM

It's sick and whoever said that about aaron's son is a million times worse than aaron could ever be! he's done nothing to deserve that, none of the housemates have done anything to deserve threats like that against themselves or their families! the tweeter who said it needs to take a long hard look at themselves in the mirror.

Benjamin 09-10-2011 11:30 AM

Trouble is some viewers get so sucked into it that they can't distinguish between reality and forget that most of the time we are shown highlights of housemates the way the producers want us to see that housemate. People also forget it's a game and generally for a game you have a plan and strategy to win, the whole point of a bloody game.

People offering death threats clearly have some issues in the head and are probably living a very unhappy life. I remember Grace got bottled (I believe) after BB, even that was uncalled for as it had nothing to do with the viewer what she was like in that house and she didn't actually do anything that bad, she just happened to be the bitch that year.

Agree!

My son died and it's the worst thing that will ever happen in my life. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy let alone someone in a game show.

There's no justification for writing something like that about anyone.

Jords 09-10-2011 11:40 AM

That is disgusting :bored:

Patrick 09-10-2011 11:48 AM

I can't be arsed reading all that but anyone that wished death on an innocent 6 year old child needs to be ******ing run over.

And I don't even care if that's 'just as bad' because it isn't.
