Maisy's war on "intelligent conversation"

"We're not in there for intelligent conversation" Maisy spat as if the very idea revolted her.Damned right you werent. Its the idea that intelligent conversation cant possibly be entertaining that is bizarre-and the fact that she can go over a month without having one. She's probably got the same attitude in the outside world too.

alex_front 10-10-2011 01:48 PM

Although what she said was annoying - it;s kind of true.

Aden actually intelligently contributed to Heaven's crazy melanin-rocket fuel rant but we never saw his part, only her madness as that was deemed entertaining.

People loved to watch Jade Goody (RIP) think 'East Angular' (sic) was in India or Helen thinking chickpeas are made of chicken or Brian Bello not know anything, really. I think a really ignorant guy won BB Germany (or Italy) and made a virtue of not only not knowing who Shakespeare was but revelling in his own stupidity.

Keeva last year had loads of really good intelligent conversations and debates on religion, culture, abortion, gay rights etc and hardly any of this made it onto the HL - just C4 web site and the abortion debate with Dave was swiftly removed after 30mins and replaced with Josie being teased for the 22nd time for sucking her thumb. So sad that I remember this sh*te, but I do.

Yep, I'm never a fan on the unintelligent HM's. It's not an attractive quality to play on stupidity, but it seems the British Public like the thick ones for some reason.

psychtracker 10-10-2011 02:10 PM

Yeah, i never really got Maisy. I tend to believe she is fairly intelligent, but she did some weird things like getting around in her knickers at the start and doing random cartwheels in front of other housemates. Getting it on with Aaron, then going into denial mode.

Plus it seemed she could never really be bothered getting to know half of the housemates.

I tend to think she went into the house with an odd strategy, of how she thought she would be popular with the public, but it failed!

Maisy knows that smart convos don't make good TV for female housemates. Walking around in a thong will give her media exposure, discussing anything a bit deeper than hair straighteners, won't. Male HMs can do smart and be liked, females can't.

I think Maisy is one of those (female) HMs who knows she was never going to win/ make the final so wanted to sure up her presence in the house for a media career hence the flashing her throng, cartwheels. If she wanted to stay she would have done a Sophie Reade and walked around with no make up, wearing a hoodie so women like her.

Yea, she never got to know Mark, Tom or Harry and I think that's mainly because they wouldn't entertain her 'let's talk about sex/ boobs' conversations she'd have to impress Jay and Anton.

psychtracker 10-10-2011 02:38 PM

Yeah AF, you're totally on the money with all of that. It's a bloody shame they can't throw in at least a few normal girls each year, or a geeky chick. These carbon copy ditzy wannabe actress/models DO MY HEAD IN!

...and people wonder why the first 4 HMs to leave are all female! ... :)

Speak for yourself I guess... I would love to hear some of them say something deeper then 'I'm normal, me'.

Funny is fine, but I actually like seeing more to them then what Maisy' version of what BB 'is about'.

No, I want to hear smart convos too, but I know it won't be broadcast, it does not appeal to the tweenie/ under 25 age group C5 want to capture. Don't forget the show often goes out the same time as TOWIE.

I rue not appreciating the days of BB1-5 (well maybe not BB4) where house-mates were articulate and discussed various topics (remember in BB2 where housemates held debates on controversial topics as part of a task? Would never happen now, in this era of show-mances and girls discussing boob sizes).

Yeah, with you there :/

johnx 10-10-2011 02:49 PM

Reckon this bunch are so boneheaded(with a couple of exceptions) that witty banter and interesting discussion isnt possible. This is why they are so utterly bored-the vocabulary of these housemates is pathetically limited.

alex_front 10-10-2011 02:53 PM

A good example of bone-headedness is Jay.

He can't accept that Aaron is not into discussing shagging women, sexist jokes, having 7 years of sex* and has more cerebral interests etc so he labels him weird etc. When Tashie was discussing her culture he made his excuses and walked away (probably because it doesn't involved booze, poo, football or shagging)

*admittedly I think Aaron might be fibbing on that, but don't mind either way

The chav culture identifys with thicko's, therefore lowest common denominator wins out and stupidity gets the most air time... Sad but true:conf:

Admittedly it was only shown on BBOTs (and website I think) which is not what general viewers/ people obviously watch, it's BB so I don't take what's shown on there as what people see in general.

But this is my problem. I don't have a problem with chavs if there is a contrast in intelligence and ability. There isn't on the female side. There are working class people who are bright and smart, but all we are seeing a dumb, working class people especially chavs. I don't even blame Jade Goody (RIP) or Helen BB2. I think the first person was Maureen off Driving School who cashed in on making dopyness a lucrative selling point. She made a reported £250K just of the back of that which seems like small fry now (compared to the Amy Child school of making money from a dumb female image) but it set the ball rolling that women can be stupid and out-earn smart women. Ueber chav mum/ benefits scrounger Lizzy Bardsley pocketed about £400K off the back of Wife Swap until her benefits were stopped.

Apart from the smart graduate who took over from Vorderman on Countdown there's no intelligent young women on popular TV and even then Amy Childs, Kerry Katona and Jordan make 1000 times what Countdown woman makes

LivT 10-10-2011 05:15 PM

Yes, I agree with many comments here. It is far beyond a joke now; subjecting the public to a surfeit of intellectually challenged people who, in my opinion, are merely promoting public scorn and often evoking sheer disbelief as a means of entertainment. Exploitation of these people is now beginning to seem a tad barbaric. It is possibly fair to say that wealth and fame are obviously an affable proposition , counteracting any compromises over the way in which someone is being portrayed. If that is the case then good on them.

bblover2 10-10-2011 08:54 PM

i'm a woman anyone want an intelligent conversation on politics

BBDodge 10-10-2011 09:38 PM

With no live feed any intelligent conversation will never get seen. If the producers have a food fight or showmance to put in the HL anything else will get binned.
