Why would BB rig it?

A lot of posts are flying around saying BB want Aaron/Jay/Alex to win big brother but why would they want any in particular?

Would Jay, Alex or Aaron bring more money to BB if they won, if so why?
Or is it to do with publisity?

I just want to kow how they would choose a preferred winner?

Niamh. 10-10-2011 03:23 PM

I heard someone say that Jay has been lined up to be in Geordie shore and that's why they want him as winner. I suppose they'd want someone who'd they get the most media attention afterwards as it promotes the show?

joeysteele 10-10-2011 03:23 PM

Maybe they want a controversial winner this series. Jay would certainly fit that.

Raven 10-10-2011 03:25 PM

This isn't the first series that such bias has been fairly clear. I don't see any bias in jays favour but I do see it in aarons, even in BBBotS. People tend to have their favorates, why should the directing team be any different?

alex_front 10-10-2011 03:26 PM

They want to appeal to a youth demographic, photogenic and appear in OK.

Aaron is too old (hardly anyone under 20 supports him, I bet Louise is more popular there). Alex is not pretty enough without wanting to be rude they'd have to PhotoShop the hell out of herself and she has no definitive storyline beyond fake tan. Jay as vile as he is fits the bill (storyline = Louise love story, being bullied *cough* by Aaron but defeating the 'bully', friendship with Anton, depression over best buddy Mark's departure glossing over the sticky fact he nominated him etc). It's easier to rig in a vote to save as you simply edit out rival contenders so we are seeing less Aaron than we did upto day 19 when it began to become the Jay show.

Hmm that doesn't seem likely to me, they're keeping the same cast for the second series which is airing at the start of 2012 and as far as I know there's been no plans for a third series or to change the characters or anything. Unless he's due to appear in some other way but the show just revolves around the main 6 really. Also Geordie Shore tends to only get about 300 or 400,000 viewers so I don't think it'd hold that much sway over BB

Vicky. 10-10-2011 03:30 PM

They make more cash/gain more publicity(though probably not this year, they have before) through marketable winners...

Mystic Mock 10-10-2011 03:31 PM

They choose who wins BB by who will give the best headlines.

Jay - The model shoots in mags.

Aaron - The most controversial winner Big Brother has ever had.

Alex - I actually dont think she would bring in any headlines or do anything in the mags to publicise BB.

Cromwell1900 10-10-2011 03:33 PM

Iv never felt it was rigged and i don't see a reason to change my view this series. Sure C5 are less trustworthy imo but, i really can't see a strong claim to a fix.

Well there exceptions, but a quick glance over Twitter and Facebook (the voters) and most of the Aaron comments from teens are really negative eg

@meleeese
Aaron literally creeps me out so much #bbuk

And there are plenty more of those on there. Aaron is really not liked by most Twitter teens in general. Don't want to stereotype but most people under 20 seem to like their housemates 1-Dimensional and straight forward who can be stereotyped eg cheeky chappy Geordie - Jay. Aaron is deemed weird and not a real man as he doesn't conform to what many teens expect a man to be....

Vicky. 10-10-2011 03:34 PM

I dont think its rigged btw. I just think the editing is very dubious and that they clearly have their faves

That is rigging.

Can't stand Tom but he's barely featured on show or even website. He said a lot in the Rebeckah-Heaven show down but this was cut down on the HL.

During the Jay-Anton sausage task Aaron, Alex and Tom did a lot but none of this made the show. The whole show was edited to show Jay and Anton in Burger task (tasks never last the whole show) and Jay's White Chicks/ black men comments rushed quietly in at the end. We even say shots of Jay and Anton asleep in bed in custumes.

Oh, I took rigging to mean actually fixing the vote.

The producers have always had their favourites, and nearly every year the faves have won(with the exception of Rachel rice...and we all know just how much they hated that). But this year it can be, and is, worse than ever, since we only see what they want us to see...leaving out major events to suit their own storylines.

dizzy bint 10-10-2011 03:45 PM

It will definitely be rigged in favour of who C5 believe is the most marketable in their magazines, papers etc. Or for the person they can use in some other way the most even if that is only the best person to promote the show for next year.

In a vote to save the most important thing to look out for is the housemate(s) up for eviction who are hardly shown in the last couple of days before the Friday. If you don't see them you don't vote to save them.

I don't know if it is or not, that's just something I read here I think

:joker:I am just under 20 at 19 but I do too,I know a fair few 17 to 19 year olds who do as well.

I think there may be a fair few more than some may think there are.Alex_font did though say hardly anyone under 20 does so accepts there are numbers of them that do to be fair.

25 here, and I'm not a huge Aaron fan, I liked him at the start but have gone off him recently. My favourite atm is probably Alex.

Lex 10-10-2011 04:31 PM

I'll be 82 on the 25th and I'd really like Alex to win! :cheer:

Benjamin 10-10-2011 04:33 PM

Most people I know who watch BB want Alex or Harry to win.

InOne 10-10-2011 04:36 PM

They're just good at manipulating the unintelligent masses sadly. Society has changed dramatically since BB first aired.

tweetypiebabe1 10-10-2011 04:49 PM

Is it possible for them to rig it? Yes, it is, especially since they're no longer publishing percentages and live feeds haven't been up. Even so, if they really wanted to, I'm sure they can.

Aaron has huge public support and they know that. With Jay, I'm sure in terms of publicity and all the things he'll be asked to be involved in after the show they'll also make some money from it. With Alex, I can only assume the same and the fact that she's younger, but I'm really stumped with why her. Maybe because she's the young, seemingly naive (but really not) blonde girly type. They might make loads from her as well.

rsefitpro2011 10-10-2011 09:51 PM

Well BB has always favoured certain housemates over others, and thats something that will never change.

Alex will win their is absolutely no doubt about it, she would easily come out in any vote to save, as the hands down winner.

BB manipulate the votes for obvious reasons, they can ill afford a controversial winner. Alex is safe, no controversy, and yes shes unstoppable for me!

Foebane100 10-10-2011 09:57 PM

I feel it is becoming the Jay show he gets lots more airtime than any other two people added together
