Does Alex Justify being the Odds on favourite to win?

What do you think? at the minute she is 8/11 to win but what has she actually done to justify that price?

Benjamin 14-10-2011 11:31 AM

Yes. No offence to the Aaron fans but his r/ship with Faye is rather dull, and despite all the drama between everyone, without Alex the show would lack serious fun and light-heartedness, so would become just very miserable and depressing.

Also she is a team player, tries her hardest to pass tasks even if it humiliates her (like the 'Yes' task), doesn't sabotage them which must be frustrating for BB and viewers (like the Save and Rescue task, I would have liked to see 2/3 housemtaes survive the night in the room) and brings the whole house back together.

chuff me dizzy 14-10-2011 11:32 AM

She the only one who made me actually cry with laughing in the tan task ,so for that alone she should win ,she doesnt backstab, bitch or follow like a sheep I really like her

Black Dagger 14-10-2011 11:32 AM

I loved her spray-tan segment, and think she is wonderful, nice and genuine.

But she hasn't done much, rather her than Anton, Jay or Aden though.

Kate! 14-10-2011 11:33 AM

Yes, she's a breath of fresh air, and very sweet. There are a few I would be happy to see win, Alex is definitely up there with the best of them.

Alex, Aaron, Harry or Faye please :D

Sophiee 14-10-2011 11:35 AM

I think so, I've enjoyed watching her throughout the show, she likes to have fun and seems like a lovely genuine girl. I'd be satisfied with her or aaron winning.

Novo 14-10-2011 11:38 AM

I don't think she has at all and the price is being very kind to her.. a lot of people only seem to remember the spray tan thing and don't note any other things she has done in the house.. she sits on the fence way to much and lets tom do all her arguing for her ( like yesterday with Harry ) she just sat there looking gormless whilst tom and Harry argued over him throwing water at her.. the only time she ever gets shown on the highlight shows is when she is with Tom so it makes you wonder what she actually does without him there? I don't like Anton, Jay or Aden but at least the whole Wolfpack thing v Aaron/Faye/Harry has been great TV and hasn't got boring one bit

See for me the arguing has got boring. It's not fun anymore in that house most of the time, just petty bickering and sabotaging what could be some amazing tasks that give them something to do.

For that reason Alex is by far the worthiest one in there, she's enjoying the once in a lifetime experience and not fixated on having a fauxmance or causing drama.

Chuck 14-10-2011 11:44 AM

Her behaviour in the house isn't the only reason why she's such a favourite to win.

The majority of Aaron fans hate Jay and vice-versa, which means they aren't going to receive a considerable amount of "second option" votes.

Besides being lovely and genuine, she hasn't offended many people and will most certainly receive many "second option" votes. The key to win Big Brother isn't having the biggest fanbase, because if your fanbase represents less than 50% of public preference, you're going to need votes from all the other fanbases. If you're controversial and marmite like Jay and Aaron who are her biggest threats you're probably not gonna get as many votes as someone who hasn't offended the public that much. Big Brother isn't only about popularity but also about rejection.

And it's very probable she will never face the public vote before the final.

Most viewers overlook that but what you have said in that post is very true.

This is what i really don't get at all? Arguments & Drama = Good Viewing & Ratings.. i don't know why people would want to watch a house with people who just want to be nice to each other all day and in some way play up on it more then others.. for me the sabotaging and Wolfpac v Purple Koalas has stood out a lot lot more then anything Alex has done in there so far i don't watch Big Brother to see people sitting on the fence for 9 weeks

Some arguments and drama is entertaining, too many becomes boring and sucks the fun out of BB, and BB is meant to be about fun in my mind.

If it was suppose to be fun it would be on CBBC at 4pm and not Channel 5 at 10pm

the Anton v Aaron thing this year has been the greatest thing about this Big Brother

Exactly, some of the arguments are entertaining. I usually support controversial housemates such as Marcus and Charley, but so far I have been much more entertained by Alex's sense of humour than unnecessary drama.

totally agree with this. alex is just there 4 the experience and probably isnt even thinkin about wining which is wot the likes of Aaron and faye r doing. i reckon if she heard alex to in chants she wud b wondering wtf is goin on?

vesavius 14-10-2011 11:58 AM

Of course she has 'justified' it. By the rules of the game she 'justifies' it.

People like her enough, based on shown behaviour, to vote her to win and thats the only victory condition of winning BB.

The rest is just froth. We might like to watch the others in their dramas, especially the viles, but they arn't doing anything to 'justify' their place or be more 'deserving' when the ONLY requirement of being in front is voter popularity.

You don't turn up to a marathon race in a giant dinosaur costume juggling balls if you want to lead the pack. You turn up with as little as possible and just do what you do best.

BB is a popularity contest, nothing more, nothing less. She will win it by being popular.

dizzy bint 14-10-2011 11:58 AM

In my opinion her odds to win with the bookies don't necessarily reflect her popularity but more that she is the type of housemate that will win.

She would be thinking " My plan is starting to win all i have to do is sit on the fence some more and not be entertaining one bit and i'll have this in the bag! "

Look I have watched BB from the very start. I like my bitch/bastard housemates like Makosi, Grace, Science, Victor etc. But I can also appreciate the softer and funnier ones too.

This year Aaron started off strong but really doesn't have much else to offer and I have grown very bored of him in a short space of time. The first few dramas were funny but now they are growing stale and repetitive.

that is basically like saying she has nothing about her then and is just boring, stale and normal?

You can twist what I posted any way you like in an effort to fit your agenda, thats fine. Nice how you focused on that tiny bit though, ignoring the wider point being made, but whatever.

But no, it was meant to say she has turned up as herself, with no bells and whistles, and relied on her personality to do the winning.

No artificial showmances, no BB given 'stories', no arguments, and no being nasty to others.

Just Alex being lovely.

It seems the voting public LIKE her, and in a popularity contest thats all thats needed to be 'justified' to be in front.

Well i just think with the characters in the house this year Alex shouldn't even be a contender to win it.. even past housemates that have been evicted left a bigger mark that Alex has so far.. far enough you think she is genuine and nice so is my Nan but i wouldn't watch her in a house for 9 weeks there are housemates in there who have brought to much to this big brother and Alex is not one of them

Yeah there should be a balance I think, it's good to have some drama in there but if everyone's just having a s**t time and noone's enjoying themselves or having a laugh then it can just get depressing

The way you said it told me everything.. " You turn up with as little as possible " and it is funny that people think Alex is being herself but accuse other housemates of not being themselves when they get into relationships

Does this seem like the Alex in the house to you?

Not a chance.

Then vote for who you DO want to be a contender.

Thats how it works. You get to express this opinion of yours through the vote system.

Right now though you are badly outnumbered in your opinion of her. The majority want her to win.

In a popularity contest, she is the most popular right now, and that's that. Position 'justified'.
