this could mean any of the following-

1) His mum still bathes him and saw things
2) since he lives in a tiny bedroom at home he has nowhere else to bring the ladies and his mum is like Jim's dad on american pie. When she walks in on him she congratulates and gives advice rather than leaving them to it

He's obviously a fantasist, so I don't think his mum can be blamed for being lied to. She was only confirming the lies she'd been told.
