Why are people irked about gameplayers on a gameshow?

Ugh its ALWAYS the same. XXX is playing a game...yeah, they all are...some just more obvious than others :bored:

That said, I much prefer more obvious gameplans to people who just sit around watching their Ps and Qs and waiting for the win. Those kind of gameplayers annoy me a bit ;)

Jords 16-10-2011 02:00 AM

I dont mind it unless its playing with people's emotions like forming relationships.

Strategic bitching and planting seeds is good, as long as its not done too harshly and 24/7, because at the end of the day BBUK is mainly based on personality and I want to get to know the 'real' them.

BBUS on the other hand

Totally baffles me asto why people think they wouldn't be 'playing a game' erm.... on a gameshow!

Then again, those in there too who say they're not - bollocks

swinearefine 16-10-2011 02:03 AM

I don't really view it as a gameshow, but as a personality contest. I don't mind a little gameplaying, because obviously everyone will try to stay in to some extent, but when people obviously are playing a game but deny it, it annoys me.

Jords 16-10-2011 02:05 AM

I honestly think some people go in purely for the experience.

OK their gameplan might be to 'try get on with everybody' or 'be myself' but its not really that much of a gameplan. Its just to enhance their overall stay by having more of a laugh, but mostly in return, it also increases their length of stay.

Nobody in their right mind would go in purely to be a bitch as their 'gameplan' because youd get the boot after 1-2 weeks and how pointless would that be :L

It's certainly not the 'norm' as far as gameshows go :)

I agree, call me gullible but I actually believe Anton is the only out and out game player in there, the only one who is fully intent on having a gameplan. I suppose you could maybe add Louise to that but even then I'm not that convinced.

But so many fans get so worked up too. It baffles me. It's like "OMG X person has a gameplan!!!!"

And?

Is that not the idea ? :joker:

The only gameplan Louise possibly could have is 'acting dumb' but I really dont think so. Maybe she 'acts dumb' on the outside, I know so many that do, its almost a personality trait.

Its hard to tell but personally think shes just a bit ditsy

Faye needs to get lost, she is dragging Aaron down, whilst boosting her own popularity by her association with him. What's the bet she will nom him on Monday, because the deluded bint thinks she is popular in her own right?

As for Jay and Louise, even more fake than the farcical duvet divers from last year, and even more cringeworthy.

I agree completely with you, a really good assessment of the issue, done so concisely too, wish I had that talent Jords

Had I set out to say what you have it would have likely turned into a book.:joker:

90% of the public are morons. Big Brother is a gameshow. The winner receives £100,000. Every housemate has a strategy. The housemate with the best strategy wins.

Same.

I think a lot of people underestimate how hard it would be to carry out a game plan 24/7, weeks on end that involved acting a certain way. It's just not realistic. Sure, maybe a few housemates have purposely done stuff for the cameras, or to get out of being nominated, but I really don't think any of them are different people to how they would be out of the house.

I do think there is a chance Aaron is playing a game, though he does so much that works against him (having his moody moments and ignoring certain people) that even that doesn't really make sense.

G1dds 16-10-2011 09:27 AM

Im all for subtle or clever gameplaying (like Alex)

Not morons like Anton............

karezza 16-10-2011 09:52 AM

Even winners like Josie Gibson & Rachel Rice had a gameplan.

Raven 16-10-2011 09:56 AM

As I have said elsewhere, even 'be true to yourself, keep your head down and nose clean' is a gameplan, and yes even alex has one... but there is a BIG difference between one that harms no-one and a gameplan that targets others in a rather nasty and hurtful way... as both aaron and anton have done.

MeMyselfAndI 16-10-2011 10:32 AM

Maybe because we dislike their gameplay? If they were actually playing a good game then yeah, but obviously Anton is dumb & is playing an awful game, after hearing his boos.

Callum 16-10-2011 10:56 AM

I like housemates who have a gameplan, it's a gameshow so why shouldn't they have one? Makes no sense. Even better when their up front about it.

starry 16-10-2011 02:33 PM

Because some people desperately want to confuse the show with reality, even though that looks silly without live stream.

SoBig 16-10-2011 03:27 PM

I don't get it either.

In the US they embrace game playing and hate people that aren't game players. Its the complete opposite of the UK version. In the US, Anton would be liked.

Pfffft, Faye does well on her own, with or without Aaron. Aaron is lucky Faye has time for him

alex_front2 16-10-2011 03:42 PM

It depends.

I know Aaron is playing a game (playing the geeky Hugh Grant little Bo Peep act) but I really like him and he's doing it in a different way (he and Mark are on my all time great HM list). However, Alex (little miss dumb schtick) and Anton are game-players and I dont like either.

There;s a skill in game playing. Aaron let us in on it from his VT and first week but has barely mentioned it since. So if he is devious, we think 'ook he did say he was going to game play'. Anton is too OTT about it. going into the DR to tell us how clever he is. Alex is trying to pull the wool over our eyes.

Tom isn't a game player but does have tactics ie slag off Aaron at every opportunity to remind us, the viewers that Aaron is bad.

Some of best HMs have been devious eg Nasty Nick, Adele BB3, Victor BB5 (when he wasn't being misogynistic)

King Gizzard 16-10-2011 03:46 PM

Like people when they're open about having one in their interview before they go in and that, but when you have one on the sly I dunno..just 'irks' me
