It is nice (right word?) to know she seemed to be all right, but it is so disturbing to hear 18 people walk passed!

Thats Life In The City for you.

Why did the Parents leave her Alone - Is the Real Question here

fruit_cake 19-10-2011 08:13 AM

maybe they didn't want her it is China. As soon as they get a female child they don't want them with the one child policy

No Her Mother is upset

Livia 19-10-2011 10:36 AM

Girls aren't worth much in China. Female children are often left out in the elements to die. Chinese orphanages are full of little girls, tied to beds or tied onto a pot for their entire childhood. But hey, let's not worry about that, let's buy loads more cheap stuff from China and ignore their Human Rights record, but still keep beating ourselves up for Britain's past.

Kazanne 19-10-2011 10:57 AM

Really disgusting, but not surprised, the way they treat animals is barbaric so why would they stop at children, for a race that are supposed to be 'intelligent' they sure lack in conscience,to think little girls are lesser people is really UNintelligent, ,and Livia how right you are,I try my best to always buy British but even then you can never truly tell what labour has been involved, people need to make a stand even if it's a tiny one it all helps.Glad this little girl survived, hope she recovers.

That's a very shocking statement Livia......more so because it's so bang on

From the Daily Mail

Quote:

Many people in China are hesitant to help people who appear to be in distress over fears they will be blamed.

High-profile law suits have ended with good Samaritans ordered to pay hefty fines to individuals they sought to help.

It's hard not to buy stuff from China when EVERYTHING is made there, we don't really have a choice

Very True.

This is just horrific, the video made me feel sick. Hopefully she'll pull through

People in need of help and being ignored happens more often than people realise, it's called the 'Bystander effect'. Anyone studying Psychology will have encountered the case of Kitty Genovese.

Kazanne 19-10-2011 11:46 AM

I remember the 'Liverpool 38' very well, same thing,I guess they will never forget either.

Jordan. 21-10-2011 09:28 AM

She's now died:

I don't really think that's the case here though because each person walks by on their own

People just assume that others will help. In the Kitty case, people who were in their houses heard screams but assumed that others (that they couldn't see) would do something about it.

No, I read about this and apparently it is to do with what Chewy said, that people can be made responsible financially if they try to help. (Sounds crazy though)

Yeah apparently back in 2006 a man helped an elderly woman who fell over to hospital but ended up getting sued by her for her medical expenses as she claimed that he had pushed her. The judge said that it was likely that he had pushed her as for him to commit a good deed probably meant he had committed a bad one in the first place, think he had to pay a lot in medical expenses and might even have served time in jail

That still falls under Bystander effect I believe.

But the poor girl's mother, having her daughter die after all that.

The Financial effect sounds more accurate ;)

Yeah maybe, I remember studying the Kitty Genovese case a couple of years ago, it's crazy, I can't comprehend the mindset of people who just ignore things like that

Visage 21-10-2011 02:14 PM

This is sick and one of the hardest things I've ever had to watch.

I read earlier that the little girl died.

Kazanne 21-10-2011 02:38 PM

Aw,bless poor little woman,how sad

MeMyselfAndI 21-10-2011 03:12 PM

That is horrible - Hopefully the driver dies:)
