Is It Normal At 16 To Feel Life Is Just Worthless??

Like to feel no hope and nothing will ever get better, like its just too hard to bother with. I really do not see the point of life but can't bring myself to actually end it. It is just so constantly monotonous and bleak. Like if everyone feels like this why would anyone feel this is worth it.

ILoveTRW 22-10-2011 12:22 PM

No, learn to love yourself

All life is pointless in the grand scheme.

try and make someone elses life better and if you can do that you may find that your life will also improve.

Think about others more than yourself and you wont go far wrong.

Your going through a load of changes with school and stuff so im sure you feel out of sorts......think about holidays and stuff to take your mind off things.

Niamh. 22-10-2011 06:09 PM

Things will get better Charlie don't worry

Lee. 22-10-2011 06:28 PM

Charlie, I know you're not happy just now, but just try to concentrate on the positive things and I promise at some point you'll think life is good!

Ramsay 22-10-2011 06:29 PM

I've felt the same since i was 15 so yeah go us:laugh2:

Maia 22-10-2011 06:40 PM

I feel exactly the same tbh so yeah it probably is normal. Sometimes I just wonder why all of us are even here and why life is carrying on and on after so many years. It's all just a mystery

Kerry 22-10-2011 10:09 PM

By the bits and bobs I've picked up you've had a load of changes going on. To and from Singapore, time on and off with your family, boarding school starting and living on your own/being launched into making new mates. Sounds a friggin nightmare.

It will get better. These spells always pass. Awful while you feel that way but they really DO pass.

Need a chat, PM me x

I think it's normal to think that. Probably because I've felt the same for a while now.

Niamh. 22-10-2011 10:15 PM

I wish you would come back online and chat to us Charlie. Everyone feels like that at some point, but things are never as bad as you think

We all have our down moments, and I get through them by thinking I am lucky to even be alive so I should see the positive in everything/everyone & live life to the full.

If you are really bothered by your feelings then please go talk to someone, ending your life is NOT the answer, anyone can get through anything :) x

I have a very close friend who was recently going through the same thing to the point of suicide and I'm the only one who really knew. They felt like there was nothing to live for and was very depressed and things never seemed to get better. I tried to convince them but they basically said what you thought. It's just repetitive and nothing much to it.

But they're better now, they realises there's loads they want to do, you might feel the same too soon. :D

StraightEdge695 22-10-2011 11:04 PM

i felt the same way until i met my girlfriend.. she makes everything feel better and always cheers me up when i fell down.. which is alot =P

King Gizzard 22-10-2011 11:05 PM

Not at all Charlie.

I remember feeling exactly like this about a year and a half ago, had a very depressing period and felt like MY life was pointless and I was seriously unhappy with myself.

I snapped out of it but low and behold Ive been down in the dumps at stages again. I think everybody does, its just some people have frequent waves of good times and bad times and have different lengths of it too.

Surround yourself with positive people, laugh more and try to accept yourself and be yourself at all times - dont hold back.

It wont happen over night and youll go back in your shell in some situations, I do, but just remember youre not always gonna feel like you do right now. :)

I say to myself that Imma try living in the moment more rather than planning into the future.

Thanks guys its just like I have felt like this for over a year and a half and like no matter how happy you can be in one moment it just like goes back to this default bleakness and there really seems to be no point going on in life if this is how one feels. Like whats the point, I don't understand.

Hi Charlie, is there anyone close to you that you can unload to? It is very important to share how you are feeling with someone you can trust. If you really feel you can't then please ask to see a counsellor. When you can talk about what's bothering you, another person's viewpoint can often help you to put your problems and concerns into perspective. It could even be that you are suffering from depression which is an easily treatable condition and medical intervention can make all the difference to how you deal with life and all it throws at you.

You are still so young, and at a very impressionable and momentous time in your life, being as you are on the verge of adulthood with all the unknown and often exciting things that may bring in the future. Believe me, it is entirely normal for you to have feelings of anxiety, apprehension, even futility sometimes. That just shows that you are a sensitive and empathetic person. No one can deny that the world can often be a not very nice place at all, but it would be the poorer if you were not in it:hug:
