Richard\'s accent

I've been confused by Richard's accent since the beginning. Is it some Canadian accent I haven't heard before? Anyone from Canada able to shed some light on it?

LOL - I've known Richard for 22 years and he still sounds Canadian to me!! He says some words that are very British but for the most part, his accent is very much Canadian!! The British tend to say "do you know what I mean" and "yeah" a lot - we say "EH?". Has he said EH yet? It's been over 10 years since he moved to London so hopefully he's lost his EH'S.

I haven't heard any "eh's" so far - being from New York, I watched enough Bob & Doug McKenzie that an EH would have me laughing.

Good luck to Richard!

It's Canadian- and slightly English/stereo typical gay. I think he's from near the Rocky Mountains. Love the play he pronounces sorry, 'Sarry.'

Yeah it's supposed to be Canadian but he's lived here a while, so it's changed a little. And some of the cadences in his accent are probably due to him being gay I guess, yeah! lol.

Did he just gain the accent or is he like Madonna and just fakes it? :spin2:

LittleMissC 22-06-2006 03:33 PM

I'd say it's natural

I lived in Halifax, Nova Scotia for a couple of years at the beginning of the 90s and the friends I made there all said "Eh" alot! Listening to Richard brings back fond memories of my time in Canada but I can't say I've noticed him saying "Eh" yet!
