One of my pet irks is boy/girl groups being called bands. No, you are NOT a band. You stand in a line and sing. You don't play instruments. Most of you probably don't know what one is. You are NOT a band

I think its just cause boyband rolls off the tongue more than boy group..and then it got used for girls too
