Where will Grand Theft Auto V be set?

I think San Andreas. I want London. A good compromise between the two would be London.

London is possible I think, the font of the 'Five' does look like a the font used on a fiver. Or maybe I'm being too analytical...

London will never be anything more than an expansion pack. A 60's period London with The Krays, The Who, Quadrophenia and that whole vibe would be stunning but most Americans wouldn't have a clue what is going on. The whole GTA universe is a parody on American culture.

Anyway I'm thinking Vinewood. But I'm also thinking if that were the case the logo would feature 'Vinewood' in the Hollywood sign font but it doesn't. It features money thingy. And it can't possibly be set in Washington D.C. because that's far too boring.

For all we know this is simply a holding logo until the trailer comes out.

Scarlett. 25-10-2011 11:44 PM

If they do Los Santos again, they need to do San Fierro and Las Venturas too, I think

reece(: 25-10-2011 11:47 PM

they can't do liberty city or vice city again, theyve done those over

They've only done Vice three times (GTA - GTA: VC, then the PSP stories one)

Yeah, that's why I'm thinking it wouldn't be London, it's just me clutching at straws, if I'm honest. I really don't want Vice City again, it was done perfectly the first time. I wouldn't mind Las Venturas done in more detail but, for the majority, San Andreas was brilliantly done too.

I am hoping it's a holding logo and GTA V turns out to be a bigger 'expansion' onto the GTA IV era. I still think there's so much more left to explore and so many unanswered questions. It would be a waste to leave it as it is.

Scarlett. 25-10-2011 11:52 PM

I think this era will be a mix of III and IV, I think they've likely given the engine something of an update

Nah it's been too long and GTA IV got too much of a backlash. Move it along I say. Even if it's a holding logo they wouldn't attatch the 'V' to it if it wasn't warranted. Although this time the numbering is less to do with the traditional big generation leap foward associated with a numbered entry and more to do with the fact that this generation of consoles is lasting forever. It makes good marketing sense considering GTA IV was three years forever ago in video game time. Turns out they can comftorably fit in another numbered entry considering these consoles are getting such a massive lifespan.

I hope it's not Vice City either because I don't like the whole bikinis and cocktails aesthetic of it and thought the original map was absoloutely awful.

Oh yeah and keep any and all motion controls well away from it.

They might even give it the same boxart as the last game, too, just for shits and giggles in this bizarre universe of things that won't happen that you've opened up.

I've gotta say, I do agree with everything you've said there. Personally, I think they could have done much more with the IV era and I just don't want the next GTA to be a disappointment considering I've been waiting for this announcement for about 2 years now. I just feel there's so much to live up to.

I think I'll wait until I've actually seen the trailer before making too much of a drastic comment on it though. After all, all we've seen is a logo.

It will most probably be set in San Andreas and all that.

I hope though, that they return to London. Seeing a GTA version of London will be amazing (and hilarious) so that's what I'd like the most.

Vegas could be a contender too: the game's numeral is V and its colour is green, the colour of money (in America anyways) so thats another supporting factor kinda.

bbfan1991 26-10-2011 07:45 PM

San Andreas, although a GTA game set in London would be so cool to play (I didn't play on the first ever game).

Jordan. 26-10-2011 07:48 PM

I need a San Andreas 2, please let it be.

Stu 26-10-2011 08:01 PM

I'd love GTA : Lone Star City or something like that. Proper good mix of Dallas/white trash vibe. Redneck oil barons all over the gaf.

Or a northern American city that lets you cross the border to Canada. How aboot that for an idea, eh.

bbfan1991 26-10-2011 08:10 PM

..Or an American one that lets you cross the border into Mexico?

Jordan. 26-10-2011 08:21 PM

I wouldn't mind a completely new location just as long as much content in it as SA. The problem with the last game was there was **** all to do inbetween missions and after completing. Theres only so many times you can listen to the repetitive car conversations whilst you take your mate to get a burger then drop them back home.

Bring back the days of driving mini vans off a mountain and bunny hopping over cars.

Scarlett. 26-10-2011 09:05 PM

Properties need to return

Yeah like buying them or owning mini businesses e.g. brothels like Vic got to in Vice City Stories to make more money.

Scarlett. 26-10-2011 11:04 PM

Aye, thats what I missed most in IV, also CAR CUSTOMISATION!

bbfan1991 26-10-2011 11:09 PM

The car customation was so cool in San Andreas.

I hope the side missions return like the burgulary ones with the van and the ones at the Quarry, plus a Casino to gamble.
