Ricky Gervais: BBC2 & BBCHD : Life's Too Short 9:30PM Thursdays
Well worth recording tonight
Docu - Spoof Comedy With Warwick Davis. http://www.moviecricket.com/wp-conte...too_short1.jpg |
I'll watch it, but it seems to be an extension of Extras more than a new show :( Should be funny regardless.

Very Funny - The Irony of life from the Little Mans Eyes.
Liked the Liam Neeson trying to do Comedy and kept saying "Aids" in every chance. |
I liked it - and think it'll get better - but it really should be a continuation of Extras rather than what it is... I like Warwick but I think it's a bit pointless trying to make him David Brent II.

Yes I liked him, at the end, saying he wants to be like his dog able to enter his Ex Wifes home when he wanted. Having Top Stars in this series makes it like Extras of course, but it also has the Struggles of Warwick. |
Yeah I guess dwarfism isn't really mainstream enough for it to be an obvious comedy route - and Gervais/Merchant always exploit uncertainties and tensions for that, and usually without offending - so it's certainly worth watching. I'm just hoping there's a redeeming ending as there always is (Brent finding a girlfriend; Andy Millman having his meltdown on Celebrity Big Brother).

It's ... it's a bit crap, really, isn't it? Gay jokes, dwarf jokes, disabled jokes. Somewhere along the line the "ironic" bit seems to have got lost and we're just laughing at gays, dwarves and the handicapped.
They seem to have forgotten about it being a documentary apart from the looks into camera. Warwick is jealous of a BBC camera crew interviewing another dwarf? He's got a camera crew following him around! The director of the newspiece doesn't notice the other camera crew? They did the same thing last week at the convention, it completely breaks the internal logic. I really like Warwick Davis, and I think he's shown a ****load of acting chops in the series, but it's just ... not that funny or that clever. |
I have to agree after the end to this episode :/ the whole Helena Bonham-Carter scene was just uncomfortable, rather than satirical or witty. The only highlights to the series for me so far have been the guest appearances (except hers, which was pretty standard for a gervais series).
