What's more exciting: the build-up to Christmas or the actual day?

For me, the build-up. The actual day's a tad dire, usually, really.

You?

GypsyGoth 10-11-2011 08:38 PM

xmas day

Z 10-11-2011 09:00 PM

I don't get excited about Christmas anymore so just the actual day for me, I like our family traditions we have (e.g. watch Elf. We're so modern.) and the food!

The build-up is amazing. The day itself tends to go by in a flash and then it's all over for another year.

Josy 10-11-2011 09:16 PM

Christmas Day.

Kerry 10-11-2011 09:39 PM

The day cos thats when the stress subsides!

I start getting excited in september. That's when I start reading recipes, checking christmas lights prices and gifts. I really really really really really love christmas.

I'm quite excited today though cos I'm making pressie plans :D

It was the day when I was a lad, then it was the build up as I started to age.

When I became a dad it was back to the actual day.

There's something really magical about watching your child's eyes sparkle as they open each present.

I prefer Christmas Eve to Christmas Day. I love going into town and watch everyone doing rushed last minute shopping, knowing mine are wrapped up under the Christmas tree.

Christmas Day for me is boring except for the present opening and the Xmas dinner eating.

Without even realising this (until you pointed it out) I've had 'It's the most wonderful time of the year' going round and round in my head, albeit it's just the chorus.

Now I have the holidays are coming.....

Build up. I love the day but after you open the presents there's that horrible temporary feeling of "oh there's nothing left" and then you play with/read/eat/wear/appreciate etc. the presents and then eat dinner and watch films and go to bed.

Princess 12-11-2011 02:06 PM

I like both, the build-up has Christmas movies and Christmas preparations and sending/getting cards but the actual day has presents so.

Jordan. 12-11-2011 02:12 PM

Definitely the build up

darker nights, clocks going back, decorations starting to go up etc

Smithy 12-11-2011 02:40 PM

build up

Tom 12-11-2011 06:20 PM
