Pedestrian crossings..
I don't know when or why but recently I am seeing more and more many people approaching a pedestrian crossing and not even looking anymore, they just walk straight out.
When I was a lad we were taught to wait until the cars on both sides came to a full stop before we entered the crossing. Do you walk straight out without looking or are there some of you that actually approaches the crossing and waits for the cars to stop...? |
I wait of course. I rather like being alive.

I wait. Here in Germany, there are even crossings where the cars are still moving but the green man goes and the pedestrians have right of way - I'm convinced I'm going to be run over at some point, it's insane...

A pair of singing hedgehogs taught me how to cross the road properly.

I walk straight out, it's their responsibility to stop for me not mine to wait for them :nono: plus some cars won't stop at zebra crossings unless you do walk out, especially in countries like Italy it seems to me

Highway code works both ways Quote:

Thats Germany though, Europe is terrible to drive in. Germany doesn't even have a speed limit |

I look then walk out, no point in making people wait if I can safely cross

As part of your hazard awareness training you are trained to spot these likely events before you even approach the crossing. Even if the crossing is (for some reason) obscured from vision, you are supposed to slow down incase of any people jumping out suddenly.
----- EDIT: Sorry forgot to actually answer the thread  I always stop and let the cars see me before I cross. I would rather make their lives easier by showing a lot of warning than to do the above ^ |

The aim is to run across the road before the car hits you

I do look, but i will step out regardless as it's my right of way..then if the person looks pissed off ..I smile and wave at them, walking even more slowly..
