the real reason aaron won

(i actually love aaron so shut up) but yeah he only won because hardly anybody watched/voted this year, so forums like DS and TiBB (the hardcore fans) had more control over the vote, especially with cheap FB voting

Jay had really hardcore Facebook and Twitter supporters tho, a lot more than Aaron.

Aaron must of had more fans in general.

That does not necessarily follow. Scott's point is that the number of distinct voters was probably quite low compared to previous years, but those who didn't mind buying umpteen bargain-bucket FB credits voted a lot.

In other words, the number of distinct followers/supporters a HM has is not necessarily the deciding factor. A lesser pool of supporters can easily outvote them by piling-on the credits.

Each housemate has x amount of supporters some of whom will vote by phone, some will vote via facebook and some will not vote at all.

Aaron won because he had more votes than the other housemates, ergo more supporters. Beyond that people can spout all the conspiracy stories they like.

Unless people can prove that he had a smaller fan base than others they really need to get a grip on reality. The lad won because more people supported him than the others - get over it

Maybe so, I for one am glad about that, even if Jay had won atleast we get a decent HM who did alot rather than the inoffensive and a little bit ditzy winners we've had the last few years. I think us forum members are better at appreciating a good and entertaining HM http://i.imgur.com/UpyHL.gif

Starting to think that Aaron won by a mile. Of course we don't know, so it's speculation but Aaron was always top in the eviction results and he was almost always the one making the headlines. Alex wasn't tested, so the fact that she was third behind Jay, who was not a consistently strong eviction performer, was always a real possibility.

If Aaron did win by a big margin, BB will certainly not want to tell us, given the way they handled the series and the final in particular.

You only need look at the amount of threads on here regarding Aaron, quite a few started by non Aaron fans because they were more interested in trying to bring him down than getting behind their own favourite....wow did that backfire big time on them.

Luke31 13-11-2011 01:33 PM

He would have won by a mile, and that's why it's so hilarious to read the Aaron haters, screaming "FIX" :bawling:

Totally forgetting, he came out on top 4 times previous, and topped all the polls.

He even won the most entertaining housemate, which was voted for by facebook voters.

.

So what you are basically saying is that Alex, Louise and Jay fans couldnt be bothered to vote bargain bucket...:joker: well thats too bad.

Can you not see that cannot be said to be true. The use of "ergo" is entirely erroneous and inappropriate......one does not follow the other as a matter of course. In point of fact, I responded above to the poster's observation that Jay had "a lot more supporters" on FB and Twitter.

And there is no suggestion of conspiracy. There is no need for a conspiracy. The link between supporter numbers and votes cast is quite weak. Indeed, the advent of FB voting is bound to reinforce this trend in that you could not simply vote once (as with phone voting alone) as there was a minimum purchase.

I also need not get over anything as I couldn't care which of them had received the most votes!

Yup - that's the game and format. Altho a more positive way to look on it might be to say that Aaron fans were more passionate and committed to their cause!

KingPrawn 13-11-2011 01:45 PM

None of the housemates were that entertaining! Aaron was the best of a bargain basement lot.

You had Jay who, apparently, did a sh*t in the fridge and spoke about doing the same to the kettle.

You had Louise who burped and farted a lot. And did not say much.

You had Alex and Tom who were as interesting as a soiled sock.

Who else would you want to win out of that lot.

No matter what each HM had equal chances with their fanbases. I personally voted by phone I have great trouble getting into fb to vote lol. Many wouldnt be bothered to use fb, many do not have pcs.

Yes, agree with this.

I think theres something to scotts theory really. Less viewers = more power to the forums. Aaron was the most popular housemate on EVERY forum by a considerable margin, hence he won.

Whilst Jay had an organised twitter campaign and loads of facebook fans and that, that does not always equal votes. I would guess at probably around 1 in 5 people who joined his fanpage actually voting. I remember during BB10 when someone would argue til they were blue in the face with me that funtime charlie would win because he had 50k supporters on facebook or something...when in actual fact, that facebook group was just recruiting people from newcastle to support a 'local'. Some of my friends joined the [page when they dont even watch big brother. I received an invite myself near the start of that series. People who join just because the person is local are very unlikely to actually vote.

Put quite simply, people on forums are more into the show than people who join fanpages on facebook. So people on forums are more likely to vote. So, whilst viewing figures remain relatively low, the forums have the majority of the power. The casual vote no longer decides the winner, so we are quite unlikely to get the dull and inoffensive winner anymore. Hence Jay and Aaron coming top 2 and Alex missing out. Even without facebook voting, IMO the result would have been the same.

What a little buttlicking weasel Jeff has shown himself to be. Still C5 pay their paychecks as they do those on BBs BOTS, so I suppose they have to curtail to a certain extent for their bread and butter.

Suze 13-11-2011 01:59 PM

I am guessing that C5 knew how popular Aaron was and that he had it in the bag by the voting come the time they came up with the money twist to deprive him of all the prize money, that also makes me think Aaron was very popular and won by a hefty margin also :D I expect he won by a hefty margin each time he was up for eviction :) Hence the twist like the crypt to try and help Jay make the final by adding more housemates to the mix.

I really doubt C5 hated him enough to deprive him of £40k of the prize money, there's no reason for doing that other than out of petulance and spite
