Jimmy Carr to host Countdown, Davina to play Million Pound Drop

...as well as some other things for C4's 30th Birthday in January.

Quote:

Comic Jimmy Carr is to host nerds' favourite Countdown as part of a TV job swap that will see several of Channel 4's big names doing other shows.

Jimmy will take over Jeff Stelling's role as presenter with his 8 Out Of 10 Cats sidekicks Sean Lock and Jon Richardson grappling with the words and numbers as contestants.

Meanwhile Alan Carr will bump Phil Spencer out of the frame and join Kirstie Allsopp for a special edition of property search show Location, Location, Location.

Camp Alan will even get to do some hard bargaining as he tries to bag a new pad for a single woman.

Phil won't be left empty handed though — he will be replacing Davina McCall as the host of Million Pound Drop — with Davina PLAYING the general knowledge quiz.

And The Made In Chelsea mob will be cooking each other a feast on a Come Dine With Me Special.

The shows will all air over one night next January to commemorate the channel's 30th anniversary in 2012.

Throughout the night — dubbed the Channel 4 Mash-Up — rolling hosts will introduce each show plus sketches and some very special guests.

A source said: "We've kicked around a load of ideas about what to do to mark the 30th anniversary and this is one that will use all our best-known faces in a quirky way.

"The emphasis will be on comedy but there will be some serious moments — like when Alan has to get tough to sort out a house price deal.

"Sean and Jon are both good wordsmiths so they will no doubt be getting quite competitive on Countdown."
Sounds good! Hope Noel gets to play Deal or No Deal :D

Sounds really good! Looking forward to the Countdown one but maybe would have preferred Jon & Sean doing the Rachel & Susie roles with Rachel as one contestant (she does 8 Out of 10 Cats a lot) and another regular as the other contestant

Location Location Location with Alan Carr will be good too :laugh2:

Sounds class :D

It's a shame BB isn't still on C4, I would've loved to have seen what they'd have done with that.

Swapped the voiceover men over, put Davina or any other presenter from BB past in the house, have ex housements presenting the shows, spoof Grand Designs documenting the building of the new house, Phil & Kirsty showing people around the house at the end of the series, Million Pound Drop/DOND to decide the prize money etc. Its a shame really, there could have been endless opportunities with it. Meanwhile BB13 will be another disaster on Channel 5

as you get So Much WRONG,

Your Post Is Wrong

This thread is about Channel 4's 30th birthday, not the new Countdown host.

Spiffing

Stop being so picky and just admit you're wrong

Davina won't be playing MPD every episode so you can tell its some kind of Channel 4 thing by reading the title

If you go by the logic you are sticking to here arista, why on earth do you read the Daily Mail? Or worse... the express.

King Gizzard 16-11-2011 04:50 PM

Jimmy Carr is a dick.

I do not read it.

But as they have the Best Photos I use them
more than The Guardian - Which is my paper
as I have Told you before Political Judas.

Yes thats what they want for the 1 off.

Jack_ 16-11-2011 06:00 PM

I'm not changing the title. If anyone is idiotic enough to believe that Jimmy Carr would really be hosting Countdown for the foreseeable future and that it wouldn't be a one-off kind of special, as well as Davina playing the MPD, then as soon as they enter the thread they'll learn the truth and realise their idiocy...
