Top 5/10 Video Games

What are your top 5 or 10 favourite games ever?

Mine are:

Spoiler:

1) Fallout 3 - I loved the story line and the presentation of the game. Initially I hated it but it grew on me so much that I was addicted, I loved doing the quests and I was just so satisfied to have fully completed the game. Its a game that I would go back and play again, all the way through, just for the hell of it. I love Fallout 3 sfm.

2) GTA IV - I know most hardcore GTA fans wouldn't rate this game that high on their lists but it was the first GTA game I've ever owned and played through until the ending. I found Niko's story encapsulating and I throughly enjoyed it. Liberty City itself was an absolute pleasure to explore and traverse and I loved driving round and finding little things. Just playing free play on multiplayer with my friend was extremely entertaining.

3) Portal - An enchantingly hilarious game that actually makes you think. The puzzles it had sometimes had me stuck for ages but when I figured them out I felt like a genius. Oh and GLaDOS remains my all time favourite video game villain of all time. She's just so fabulous.

=Portal 2 - I can't decide between the two of them so I'll rate them the same. Portal 2 was just as brilliant and clever as the original, but much longer and with a well thought out plot & witty dialogue. Valve couldn't have made a better sequel if they tried.

5) Mirror's Edge - Though flawed this game holds a special place in my heart. I loved the way it played and the seamless nature you navigated the levels with and the whole concept of the game just drew me in. I've played it over and over (it must be about 7 times now) 'cause I love the style so much.

6) Bioshock - An utterly wonderful game with a gorgeously created setting. It's plot line had me hooked from the moment I started playing it and Rapture is possibly one of the most beautifully depressing video game environments ever created. It was just amazing.

7) Civilisation V - It learned from the over complications of its predecessor and built on them to create a new and gorgeous game. The visuals were amazing and added that new level of oomph to the gameplay that it needed. It was brilliantly simple and easy to play if you were a novice. I just loved Civilisation V. Especially when I had the opportunity to nuke the idiots that tried to declare war on me.

8) Super Mario 64 - The best Mario game in my opinion. Its levels were fun to play and it was probably the first Mario game I ever got to play and complete (though not all by myself I might add). I just love (and still) love it.

9) The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - The first RPG I actually played through on my own. The plot line (again) had me hooked and I just wanted to complete it and get it over with. As I cleared area after area of the Twilight I actually did feel a genuine sense of accomplishment. And when I completed it finally I was chuffed to say the least. c:

10) Call of Duty: World at War - In my opinion, the best Call of Duty game hands down. The gritty depiction of the Russian WW2 campaign was captivating and the zombies mode was just awesome. Der Riese is the best zombie map in my opinion. Oh and I used to kick ass on the multiplayer.

1) Crash Bandicoot 2
It's so short, but my god the nostalgia is so overpowering. I literally have completed this game around 25 times but I can't stop bloody playing it. It's the worst of the original trilogy in terms of difficulty and longetivity. No relics and a lot easier than the first is a big step down but the environments are beautiful and the plot is so silly but I love it.

2) Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
A bit surprised at myself for putting a game I only played for the first time in June at #2 but wow, what a game. I haven't even played other Zelda games so no doubt there's one I prefer to this (I wanna play Majora's Mask) but this is such a beautiful game, full of massive puzzles with secrets that make you think "wtf, that was so obvious!" The best moment for me is when I escape on Epona from the ranch, that's an amazing feeling :amazed:

3) Tekken 2
Yes I have a thing about sequels. Tekken 2 is a very flawed game, I won't even deny it, but again it just reminds me of my childhood. The last game with Michelle until Tag which isn't even canon, this game has a great plot. I adore how you can either read the booklet and find out the stories, or look it up online or something, but it doesn't interfere with the gameplay. Unlike later entries to the series (with the exception of 5/DR because I loved the interludes in that) it's just fun to play the game straight from Arcade, and get through to the end to see their ending. I used to work so hard to see every ending, and if I forgot one I'd go back and do it again (ahh days before YouTube). So fun, and loads of modes. But looks extremely dated now.

4) The Sims 2
Yeah yeah, sims is for girls, sims is gay, whatever. I've spent more on this game than any other. I mean it makes sense to include Sims 3 and not Sims 2 but **** it, I've spent way more time playing and "mastering" if you like everything about Sims 2 including the expansions and despite being inferior now to The Sims 3, this one is a classic. The music, storylines, cheats, expansions, wow such a deep game. I love it.

5) Simpsons: Hit And Run
I don't even like The Simpsons much but this game is absolutely amazing. It's exactly what I love (GTA-style things) but was never allowed them until around this age, so this was exactly what I needed to tie me over all those long years. There's so much to this game, I never even completed the missions. Sometimes I'd just turn it on, then spend half an hour driving sensibly round Springfield and pretending I was living as Homer for a day and doing what he'd do. Okay yeah I used my imagination a lot there but this game is so big, the fact I can do something like that without being bored is obviously something. What a wonderful game.

6-10 coming soon.

I'm randomly remembering boss games that would never make the list in a million years. The first Splinter Cell was boss. That blew my mind back in 2003. The Oddworld games are boss.
