The Supermarket Scam
Not sure if this is true, but most likely is. Is that Supermarkets will raise their prices sometime in November, and then lower them again in December to make it look like everything is cheap and they have loads of offers on, when basically it's the same. :suspect:
|
Doesn't this already happen all year round?
|
The best one is when they do buy 1 Get 2 free but they make the item price really high so really you are paying for 2 and getting 1 free

Yep, they sure do. Same with the other side of 'sales'....they only have to have had an item at a higher price in one store - not the entire group. Quote:

I think that's probably where they're quite clever. People just look for the buzz words and ignore everything else.
|
How have you only just found this out joe?
|
Deals are never deals. Well, unless you want everything in bulk and pay twice what you wanted
I got some noodles with my shopping the other day. 4 for £2. First thing I thought was what if someone just wants one for 50p? They can't They're not stupid |

I just wanted to discuss it :hmph: |

Even easier when you shop online and the prices are broken down into costs per item (in the case of toilet rolls) or weight etc for other products - makes it incredibly easy to see what is a bargain and what is not. It's really not that difficult. |

With respect, it's sheer stupidity to just buy something because it's got a certain sticker on it and you (ie: the consumer) are happy to take the supermarket's word on it - that's my opinion - and if anyone wants to give away their money for nothing, that's the way to do it. Short of nipping into a supermarket for a one off such as a cooked chicken / pair of tights ..... I always order online and get it delivered, and as I said earlier; it makes it so incredibly easy to see what's best value as the items are very clearly marked up with individual prices for bulk purchases etc....... it really isn't difficult nor anymore time consuming - given that you have a plethora of items showing on one page. |

And like I said, people are sometimes in a bit of a rush so they don't have time to go adding every little thing up along the way. |

I speak from my own experience - so that's what I'll comment on. |

And I'm just calling you up on comments, that is all. |

Perhaps lay off with the BIB type comments and accept that someone else has another take on things; which is not you 'calling me up on comments' as there is nothing for you to 'call me up on'. It's me giving my own view on how some consumers don't realise how easy it is to work it out - and I even backed that up with a fairly detailed explanation why I had that view. |
FFS

I think you will find my reply above, was in direct response to your comment to me. You will also find that my comment above, was directly ON TOPIC. |
Blimey, an argument about checking supermarket prices at 2.20 on a Saturday night
|
And guess who's involved :idc:
|
Not always practical but one good thing to do is shop with a family member or friend. Then split the deals. Especially BOGOF's
