Working in retail at Christmas
Brings out the worst in people, both cuntomers and staff, why do we do it to ourselves?
Dreading going in later especially after this weekend! Who else works in retail and can't wait for Christmas to be over? |
This is definitively the worst time of the year to work in retail in just about every aspect. I can not wait for January.
play and amazon, job done
I never minded it. The day's flew by they were that busy

can undercut Amazon due to there far east connections. You have to check them both to be sure. |
Yeah I work in retail. I was out of it for 6 years whilst I had my kids and Xmas was so good and so different that I said I would never go back into retail. Where have I ended up working?? Next! So I'll be working late Xmas eve preparing for the sale, Xmas day off and a bloody 5am start on boxing day! I only work part time so I will have time to get in the Xmas mood but for those working in retail full time, the whole thing just passes in an exhausting blur.
I worked in retail for quite a few years and I loved this time of the year.
We could practically put anything in a stack display and the customers would buy it. Also because it was so busy the hours just flew by. January was always my worst month, it dragged on and on in retail. |
I used to work at Tescos on the checkout it was hell most customers were bad mannered.
Oh and they shopped like their was a food strike lol i bet half what they brought was thrown away un eaten.
Quadruple pay, no i love xmas

Hm, well when going shopping around Christmas time, I always encounter so many irritating, rude, selfish people so I'm sure having to work behind the counter and deal with many annoying customers for hours on end is horrible.
 I used to work in Tesco over christmas and people got crazy. It's not quite the same as clothes shops I know but people rushing around everywhere and moaning is crazy
I actually enjoy the actual work at this time of year and I have to say rude customers are few and far between... I quite like the stress and the chaos, its just the time off I don't like

Who do you work for tom?
Selfridges... ballache of a company. Annoying thing is there are about 30 different stores inside it so loads of different teams, and customers can't seem to spot the difference between each one and think we operate as one big company. Also kind of annoying that because of that, you don't really know anyone who works there other than the people you directly work with. Get a hell of a lot of time wasters. Can't wait to get out (hopefully around April-ish). Gained an awful lot of respect for people in this for the long haul! I couldn't hack it
I think I'd despise working in a store at this time. The way people act and how some people get so impatient would probably make me snap and like throw a chair at someone.
I love working around Christmas time... really gets you into the Christmas mood! Although I work in a Cafe so it's quite relaxed seeing as people are going there to relax and have a coffee and a sandwich in the middle of their hectic shopping!
I actually loved working Xmas eve. It was so nice once you clock out knowing you're off home for a good couple of days off. Like closure on the madness
i work in Next and tbh i dont really mind working around this time of year goes quick like but what i do hate is the fact i get one day off ... nice 11 hour shift on christmas eve and back in for and early start on boxing day got to love the sales! -_- x
