Just got done watching BB12 over the internet: An American perspective

Greetings, I am an American who just got done watching this over the internet. A few thoughts/questions:

- I am so happy this wasn't the third year in a row that the plain Jane 20 something white girl won the show. Was getting really sick of that played out story.

- Are Fey and Arron still together?

- Louise annoyed the heck out of me. Every one of her statements ended with a question (like "do ya know what I mean?"). I am sure that is standard dialect from her region, but was annoying as heck to watch. Do ya know what I mean Big Brotha?

- I loved that Aaron won, but wouldn't mind if Jay won. Wasn't a big fan of Jay up until the last week, but he really grew on me when he made those attempts to make up with Aaron. I think this is the first time ever that the British public voted somebody the winner who I wanted to win.

- It might be because the game is played differently in the U.S., but I really loved Rebeka and Anton. I loved how Rebeka had everybody pegged by day 3 and I loved how Anton stirred up trouble.

- Heaven: hated her.

- As each year goes by, the British public boos more and more people as they come out the door. I like that.

- Are any of the other couple still together? Louise and Jay? Alex and Tom? Rebeka and

Locke. 03-12-2011 03:51 PM

Louise and Jay and Faye and Aaron are still together, Anton is still King, and Rebeckah is still a ****

Do you have some issue with white women that you'd like to share?

I actually didn't have a problem with Jodi winning it. But it was so obvious that the girl before her in 2009 and the one from this year, Alex, were playing for the cameras. Thought for sure the British public would fall for it again and vote Alex to win, was pleasantly surprised when she went out at #3.

the bearded lady won!,so another woman did win,lol

Tbf, black women have always struggled in Big Brother. Spot_on isn't wrong to take note of fact that white women seem to be favored, for whatever reason. And I don't think he's saying they shouldn't win because they're white and female, just that they've become the generic winners over the last few years.

Not because they were black, but because BB chose the most awful, foul mouthed, nasty and aggressive types that they could........which are the reasons most have been booted out early. Nothing to do with their skin colour. ~Everything to do with their awful personalities.

But we know BB find the extremes in most cases. Hell, look at Jay as an example - a more unhygienic person you'd be hard pushed to find in every day life.

Spot on!

As I said before, thought Jodi was a deserving winner. I was just pointing out a pattern I was noticing, and u guys proved me wrong by voting Aaron the winner over Alex!

It's just that people like Heaven, the Rachels, Sylvia, Alex, Nicky, Dawn, Anouska, Adele, Amma and Mel (the black women) were all melters, bitches or just boring - they always go out early! I've only ever liked 2 black women on BB, Ife and Makosi even though Ife was unbelievably boring and everyone knows what happened with Makosi lol

There should be a really nice black woman in there for BB13:)

Allison BB3 was also black and she was a nice housemate yet she went second.

I'm getting deja vu to CBB4 when Faria had a fit about asian and black women's chances in Big Brother. :shudders:

I'm American and disagree with everything you said.

I don't care the sex of the winner, I prefer to like the actual winner, wether male or female. Furthermore, men dominated winning the series, with the exception of BB3 and BB5 up until BB9 when the tides changed for a mere three years.

I enjoyed watching Alex, Heaven, Jay and Louise yet found Faye and Aaron to be soul crushing, fun sucking, insufferable housemates.

Anton was good fun to watch but Rebeckah? Seriously?!? The woman is absolutely vile.

To each their own, I suppose. Either way BBUK puts our version to shame, that I hope we can both agree on.

spot_on 05-12-2011 01:44 AM

That I can agree on although I do enjoy watching the U.S. version. Our series is so different, I almost consider the two shows not related.

All the Americans I speak to say they loved Anton in BB. Different mentalities definitely.

We are not as big of a fan of fake niceness. Therefore, we love the people who can usually see through the bull**** (Anton, Aaron, Rebecka, Harry, etc.).

BBUK fanbase used to pride itself on being able to see through fake arseholes and out them but this fail of a series seems to have put pay to that long and proud tradition i guess the new audience c5 wanted are as shallow as the wanker that won it.
shame on the fans of BB no integrity. :(
Hopefully it gets cancelled as it disgusts me under c5 it has turned into everything i hate about celebrity culture shallow people with shallow minds an utter embarrassment of a series.

Also, to add to what Pyramid said, there's usually only one black girl put in there, where as there's usually atleast 5 or 6 white girls, so chances are it'll be a white girl who makes it to the end.

MaratSafinForever 07-12-2011 01:19 AM

Haha, Jay tried to make up with Aaron after the house realised Aaron was the favourite to win.

I am still very pleased he won, what a great end to the series.
