'I'm desperate - I'm asking for health advise on a forum' thread

I know it's not the best place to ask, but I don't want to be a drama queen if it's not worth it.

Basically, I went out on Friday and got slightly drunker than normal, and the last hour or two of the night in the club are a blur. On the way back to mine I was sick a fair bit of blood alongside average vomitty stuff, but because I was so drunk I just thought my friend was being overdramatic. They called an ambulance, and I had to go to hospital. When I was there I was apparently fuming and getting all shouty as I didn't think it was worth the hospital/wasting the nurses time. I know I had blood tests done and was on one of those beeby things that check your heart... but as I kept getting angry I eventually discharged myself.

Two questions;
- If it was bad, would the hospital of let me know the next day, seeing as I discharged myself that night?
- Should I speak to my doctor about being sick blood? Apparently it wasn't just a little bit like you sometimes get in your sick but alot, suggesting it may have been more that a burst vessel. But I feel pretty much fine now... so I don't want to waste the doctors time.

And just so you know, I have never been in hospital before when drunk... I think thats ironically why I was so angry, as I was 'taking up their time' when I felt like I shouldn't of been there.

You could also have a bleeding ulcer?

I think you should go see your gp. The hospital probably don't really care.

You leave this forum for a few months and become a raging drunk :shocked:

Might as well make a GP appointment, won't do any harm, and then at least you'll know.

Yeah, go to your local GP. Better to be safe than sorry. At least it will put your own mind at rest. :)

Would he be able to do tests, or would it be just as worthwhile calling NHS Direct? I hate wasting peoples time if I'm actually fine now!

What were you drinking? If it was a "dark" drink, eg cider and black or red wine for example, that could make your saliva look bloody, what a nice thought, rofl. Hope you are ok now!

It is possible you burst a blood vessel while vomitting...hence the blood, but no lasting harm....my advice would always be to get it checked out anyway, as it's only a 5 minute appointment, but you have to decide that...you were concerned enough to post it, so maybe that's your answer.....
