My Big Fat Gypsy Christmas

Quote:

Christmas is a time for family, a time for peace and harmony - but it is also a time to celebrate. This film follows the celebrations and traditions of members of the Irish traveller community at Christmas, as well as two of the most jaw dropping weddings ever shown.
Filmed last year, the programme follows a mass-Yuletide First Communion ceremony.

It also follows some of the unique traveller preparations that go on in the run up to Christmas, and spends Christmas Day itself with Paddy and Roseanne at their home on a traveller site in Salford.

This warm and joy-filled film offers a window into the close-knit and fiercely private community. It explores some of the age-old traveller traditions - and some of the newer on
If you're a fan of Gypsy Weddings here you go! I'm watching :D

They're killing it :bored:

I love the gypsys, on the programme anyway. Used to live about 5 miles from the Salford site but in a middle class area, just round the corner from football players etc. Quite weird when you think of the proximity but the class difference

I live in a middle class area too and we get them as well, you can always tell when they are going to turn up - the first sign is a horse tethered on a roundabout!

I think they come because they try to get business, they always knock on doors in our area asking if we want our driveway tarmacing

We just used to get them coming round in a van with a loudhaler asking for scrap metal and/or stealing stuff that wasn't nailed down in peoples gardens

Am sure it will be the same old crap, only regurgitated with a Christmas theme.

Everything OTT, big hair, big lashes, fake tans, men getting drunk, young (very young) females showing off more flesh than they hide, provocatively hip grinding each other on the dance floor -whilst protesting chastity as being sacrosanct.

Spot on. Thought it would be good but its really boring. I liked the main series where they explored different parts of gypsy life, it was very interesting, but the novelty has well and truly worn off.

Started with a wedding, now doing communions. Its not Christmassy at all

Paddy :D

Not as exciting as I thought it was going to be. A lot of the same old, same old. I must admit there was a couple of times I thought some of them were going to start flying. (I've obviously been watching too much Tinkerbell)

I read some time back that they were going to do another series next year but based on Gypsy funerals, not sure how true that is.

There really is only so much they can spit out the same rubbish. Glad I chose to waste my time on here instead! :D

I'm sure your time is never wasted on here, but I digress....:D

Although there wasn't really anything new I do find some of it fascinating.

Like living in a caravan, where do they do their cooking and laundry, there's hardly room to swing a cat in there. (Not that I would swing a.....)
